Greetings friends! The latest version of MIUI is increasingly coming to most Xiaomi-branded devices. It has a few new features, but this time we want to tell you about a function that is hidden. It is a function that allows the user to disconnect from the distractions generated by notifications and applications on the phone. The goal is to facilitate concentration on tasks that require attention, such as study, work, or rest. In this post, we explain how to access the focus mode in MIUI 14.

What is the focus mode?

The focus mode in MIUI 14 is a hidden feature that allows you to block distractions from your smartphone and focus on a specific task. When the focus mode is enabled, your smartphone will only allow you to make emergency calls and use the camera. All other functions will be disabled until the timer expires. So you can concentrate on what matters without interruptions. The focus mode is similar to the one offered by Apple on iOS and can be very useful for studying, working, or meditating.

What is the Activity Launcher app?

Activity Launcher is an application that allows you to access the hidden activities of other applications installed on your device. An activity is a component of an application that performs a specific task, such as displaying a screen or running a service. Some activities are not designed to be launched directly by the user but are used internally by the application or by other applications. Activity Launcher allows you to view and launch these hidden activities, which can be useful for developers, advanced users, or curious people who want to explore the hidden functions of their favorite applications.

In this case, we will need to make use of Activity Launcher to access the focus mode of MIUI 14. Follow the steps below:

First step

Download and install the Activity Launcher app by following the link below:

Google Play | Activity Launcher

Second step

Then open Activity Launcher once you have installed it.

Activity Launcher

Third step

tap on the “magnifying glass” icon

Fourth step

Next, in the text field enter the name of the following process: “UsageStatsMain” (Remember it must be without quotation marks as shown in the image)

UsageStatsMain

Fifth step

Then you will see a single activity, tap on it to go to “Focus Mode”.

Focus Mode

Sixth step

Once you have accessed you will see that it is divided into 2 sections: Dashboard and Focus mode. In the first one, you will be able to see the time you have used your device with graphs by days and hours. In addition, you will have a list of the most used apps in this interval. You can even set a daily limit of screen hours after which you will receive a warning. Now you should tap on the focus mode, which is the one we are interested in.

Dashboard

Seventh step

Finally, you can set a period with a minimum of 20 minutes, or you can test the mode for just one minute. But keep in mind that you will only be able to make emergency calls and access the camera. All other functions will be disabled, so you can concentrate on the task you need to concentrate on during that period.

Focus Mode

Finally, select the option you prefer.

When you access this option, you will see that you can choose from several options such as: opening the camera by double-pressing the lock button. Also by pressing the volume down button. As long as the screen is off.

We recommend that you select the double tap on the volume down button. Since you can then have the flashlight triggered by double tapping the power button. And these two options can complement each other.

Now, just turn off the screen of your phone. Then double-tap the volume down button and you will notice how the device’s camera opens quickly so that you can capture anything happening around you.

Conclusion

Nowadays mobile device manufacturers like Xiaomi. They are responsible for providing customized versions of Android. With numerous functions. Functions that most of the time are usually somewhat hidden in some menu of the system. Because of this they go unnoticed and are not known by many users who probably need them. And they end up installing third-party apps to achieve the same result. But the reality is that you will always have better performance by taking advantage of the native system features. Thanks for reading us. Goodbye!

Hello friends! Android’s split-screen mode has been a part of the mobile operating system for a few years now. It debuted with Android 7.0 Nougat, and with each new version, it has improved to a lesser or greater extent. Despite this, some apps refuse to work in split-screen mode, a clear example is the Instagram app. That’s why in this post, we will show you how to force Android split-screen with any app.

How to force split screen

In case you want to use two apps at once on your phone and one of them does not support split-screen mode, luckily you can force it from the developer options. And, except for some minor visual errors, it usually works quite well. It’s been six years since Android first introduced split-screen mode, and yet we still find major apps that refuse to resize, as is the case with Instagram (which also refuses to rotate).

To identify an app that doesn’t support split-screen, just check if they display the split-screen menu in the recent view. If your version of Android allows you to try to launch it in split-screen mode anyway, it won’t happen. Instead, you’ll see a message similar to “The app does not support Split Screen”.The latest versions of Android allow you to force all apps to work in split-screen mode.

First step

Go to Settings>About phone. Next, tap five times on “build number”, until the message “you are now a developer” appears. On Xiaomi, you must tap five times on the MIUI version.

Go to Settings>About phone

Second step

Then go into the Developer options (usually under the System section of the settings). In Xiaomi you can find them in Settings>Additional settings>Developer options.

Then go into the Developer options

Third step

After that, enable “Force activities to be resizable”. Note that the name may vary between Android versions.

After that, enable “Force activities to be resizable”

After doing so, try again your favorite method to open the split-screen and you will see that it is now available in all applications. For example, if you open the recent view and long tap on the app icon, you will be shown the Split Screen menu.

open the recent view and long tap on the app icon

This will open the app in split-screen mode even if it didn’t support it before. What happens next is somewhat unpredictable: it may run smoothly or have some elements somewhat inaccessible, but at least it will work.

split-screen mode

Thanks to this new feature, no app will escape multiview mode, although this trick should become less and less necessary. Android 12 changes how the multi-window mode works: on large screens all apps work in multi-window, but those that don’t resize work in compatibility mode. On small screens, it is still necessary to use the trick to force.

Conclusion

Split-screen mode is a feature that takes your phone’s multitasking to the next level. By using the force split-screen cheat you will be able to enjoy this feature with many apps that didn’t support it before. Thanks for reading. Bye!

Hello friends! Recently with the arrival of MIUI 13, Xiaomi has slightly remodeled the Gallery of their devices. This app has several options and features, to perform different tasks, which make it a more complete app. Many of these new features are somewhat hidden. Since they are not found in the conventional editing menu. Among these new features, you will find some like the ability to add a watermark, make perspective cropping, and smart filters. Therefore, in this post, we will show you some tips and tricks of the new Xiaomi gallery.

Add a protective watermark to your photos

One of the main features of the new Xiaomi gallery is that you can add a protective watermark to the images in the gallery. This way, you can make it a record that an image is yours so that it can’t be used. You can put any name you want, but it must have, at most 14 characters.

First step

Open the Gallery app

Second step

Then select an image to view it on full screen.

Select an image

Third step

After that, tap the menu button located in the lower-right corner and select “Protective watermark”.

select “Protective watermark”

Fourth step

Finally, type the name you want to be displayed on the image.

Protective watermark

How to crop with perspective

This option allows you to crop the photo more freely. You can do it automatically or manually, as you prefer. Just move the corner points manually to where you want the crop to take place.

First step

Open the Gallery app

Second step

Then click on the image you want to edit to see it on full screen.

Click on the image you want to edit

Crop a person in a photo and put it on another background

The new Xiaomi gallery also integrates new features in terms of cropping, so you can crop a person and put it on a custom background. This is done automatically and regardless of whether the image is a portrait mode photo or not, as long as there is a person in the photo. You can choose the backgrounds that come integrated with the gallery or choose another image to be the background.

First step

choose one backgrounds

Finally, adjust the image and save it.

Use smart filters

Finally, select the filter you want and tap the save button.

Conclusion

Although at the interface level Xiaomi did not add major changes to the MIUI Gallery, it added these new features that make it even more useful and interesting. We already saw in MIUI 12.5 as the delete function was becoming more polished, with the arrival of MIUI 13 we see an improvement in the section of the crop and the use of different filters, which will help you improve your photos. Thanks for reading. Bye!

Hello friends! The rollout of MIUI 13 continues and is starting to reach phones in different regions. If you are a Xiaomi, POCO, or Redmi phone user and have not been keeping up with the updates, you may not know what is the current version of MIUI you have installed on your device. Knowing which version you have installed will help you estimate when you will receive MIUI 13. It will also be useful to update manually much earlier instead of waiting for the OTA update. Therefore, in this post, we will show you how to find out which version of MIUI 13 you have and how to update it.

What do the MIUI version letters mean?

MIUI versions are composed of numbers and letters. The letters are usually more important as this tells us what version of Android the version we have installed is based on, for which mobile device it is intended, which region it is intended for, and from which developer it comes from.

The first letter indicates the Android version on which the ROM is based. For example, “S” means that we are dealing with Android version 12, “R” corresponds to Android Red Velvet Cake, “L” with Android Lollipop, and so on.

Android 12

Right after that, you will find the second and third letters that refer to which phone this version is intended for. Each device corresponds to a different set of letters, for example, a Poco X3 Pro corresponds to the letters “JU”, a Xiaomi Mi 11 corresponds to the letters “KB”, a Mi 10 to the letters “JB” or a Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G to the letters “EM”.

Poco X3 Pro

Then when checking the fourth and fifth letters of the MIUI version, these correspond to the region that each ROM is targeted towards. There are several different regions in which this type of software is released.

MI: Global

EU: European

CN: China

RU: Russian

ID: Indonesia

MX: Mexico

IN: India

TK: Turkey

TW: Taiwan

Global version

Finally, the sixth and seventh letters correspond to the developer who has made the version in question. The most common is to find the letters “XM” that would correspond to a ROM developed by Xiaomi itself, but we can also find different letters that would correspond to a ROM customized by a phone carrier.

Developer Xiaomi

Sixth step

Finally, go back to the installer and now tap the “Reboot and install” button. If all goes well it should install without any problem and you will have MIUI 13 Global on your device. We also recommend doing a factory reset to fix bugs and have a cleaner update. Enjoy!

Tap the “Reboot and update” button

Conclusion

This way it is quite easy to change the region without having to unlock the Bootloader and flash via Fastboot. It is best to have the Global ROM receive updates earlier. Thanks for reading us. Bye!

Installing the new font

Now, with your Xiaomi phone set to the India region, all that’s left is to open the Themes store. This is usually included in the home screen or app drawer as another application and is identified with the icon of a paintbrush.

First step

Open the Themes app and go to the Fonts section.

Open the Themes app and go to the Fonts section.

Second step

Then type in the search bar “iOS 14 emoji” or “iOS v14 emoji”. Either of these keywords will bring up the target you are looking for.

Then type in the search bar “iOS 14 emoji”

Third step

After that, select the one that matches your search, which is usually “iOS v14 emoji”. Then you have to click on the “Free” button, which is the one that will instantly start downloading the font.

After that, select the one that matches your search

Then you have to click on the “Free” button

Fourth step

Finally, press the “Apply” button and the “Reboot” button to apply the changes. Now with the phone turned on, you will see how the original iPhone emojis will appear on your keyboard, whatever it is since it is a font installed in the system. You can test it by going to the Messages app and even making a story on Instagram and inserting pictures and emojis.

Final result!

Get the iPhone emojis using this app

In case you do not want to use the Xiaomi Themes store and opt for third-party apps, it is also a valid option to have the iPhone emojis in Xiaomi. Although the first option is the most recommended, because, if you are used to using a specific keyboard, such as GBoard (Google keyboard), you may not like the idea of installing a new and different one.

This is a keyboard that comes with the emojis natively, just install it and you will be able to use the iPhone emojis. To download it you can do the following link:

Google Play | Kika Keyboard – Emoji Keyboard

Conclusion

Once again we can see how Xiaomi’s custom ROM “MIUI”, surprises us with its customization capabilities, installing the iPhone emojis is quite simple and you can have them natively installed on your system. On the other hand, there is also the option of using apps from Google Play, to get a similar result but not as comfortable. Thanks for reading us. Bye!

Greetings friends! Smartphones are like small computers that work with their operating system. Just like computers, they can fail or even stop working. This is not very common but it can happen. The reasons why this happens can be varied. One of these failures can be the Boot Loop, causing your phone to constantly reboot only showing you the device logo. This error can become very annoying and prevent you from using your phone. If this happens to your phone, chances are that something is not working as it should. So in this post, we will show you how to fix the Boot Loop on any Android.

Reasons that cause a Boot Loop

The main reason may be due to the modification of files on the system, it is managed by an operating system, it is normal that Google is responsible for introducing tools to prevent users from modifying the system. But it is still possible, for example, activating the developer options, will allow you to modify many sensitive aspects. If we go further and if you unlock the bootloader and get root access you can even change the ROM of your device. This is valid as long as you have full knowledge of each of these concepts and the risks involved. If you modify any section that is necessary for the proper functioning of the system your phone could get stuck in the Boot Loop.

Software Update

Your phone can get stuck in a Boot Loop after a software update. It is usually an error that hopefully can be solved by leaving the power button pressed for a few seconds until your phone turns on normally. Another reason is that you have tried to install an OTA Update manually that does not correspond to your device or a Beta version that may contain bugs.

Your phone has been infected

This is a reason you should also consider. If you download apps from Google Play it is unlikely that your device will be infected with a virus that may prevent the system from working properly. Because Google Play has filters that take care of keeping malicious apps out of its app store. But if you are a user who installs apps from unknown sources. There is a possibility that your device has been infected with a virus.

How to Factory Reset your phone

Before you start you must take into account that this process will delete all the data you have stored in the internal memory of your device. So if you had backups of your data in the cloud, it will not be a problem. Otherwise, I recommend that before starting this process, connect your phone to a PC and try to access the internal storage, and make a backup of all your data if possible.

This process is very similar on all Android devices, although some may vary.

First, turn off the device. To turn it off, you must press and hold the power button until the screen turns off. If you have a Samsung phone, connect it to a PC using a USB cable.

Next, press and hold the power button and the volume up button until the terminal vibrates. If it does not work with the volume up button, try the same operation with the volume down button.

At that point, release the power button and wait for a menu to be displayed on the screen.

Then, you must navigate with the volume up and down keys and the power button. Finally select through the menus until you find the Factory Reset option. Wipe Data or Hard reset (in each device may have a different name).

During this year we could see how some manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi, began to implement this feature in their devices. A feature that takes advantage of the internal storage of the devices to extend the RAM. For this reason, we can see how more and more users seek to know what it is or what benefits it offers. In this post, we will show you how to extend the RAM of your Xiaomi phone.

What is Virtual RAM?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is the memory that is usually closer to the processor because it is much faster than the internal storage of the device. Also, its use is not static. The information does not remain in this memory for a long time. For example, when you turn off your phone the RAM is completely emptied.

This memory is used as a temporary memory, all the processes that are running using it at that moment will remain stored in RAM. Depending on the amount of RAM your phone has will affect its performance. The more RAM your phone has, the better it will be able to run multiple tasks at the same time. The RAM may become full, then the system must kill some processes to give input to new processes. To avoid this, the manufacturers thought of a solution which is to implement virtual RAM, this process consists of using a part of the phone storage in a way that the system will treat it as if it were RAM. The storage is slower, so this will result in slower performance, but at least it will still work.

How to extend the RAM

In the case of Xiaomi, this feature was introduced with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update. It is necessary to have enough free space on the device, to be able to use this feature. The system will take 2GB. Activation is simple and can be done in a few steps.

As we mentioned at the beginning this function is also present in some devices from Oppo and Vivo manufacturers. In this case, 3GB of the device storage is used and its activation can be done from the settings.

Using this virtual RAM will allow the phone to continue performing its operations, something that can be helpful if you have a mobile with low memory or high memory usage. Although this RAM speed will be slower now because the storage works at a slower speed.

First step

Open the Settings of your Xiaomi phone

Open the Settings of your Xiaomi phone

Second step

Then go to “Additional Settings”

Then go to “Additional Settings”

Conclusion

The memory extension or virtual RAM is a function that is increasingly present in Android devices of different brands. This function will allow extending the device’s lifetime. It will benefit more mid-range and low-end devices, which tend to have scarcer resources. You should also take into account that it is a function that has yet to reach many devices. If you notice any failure is because it is a relatively new feature that will improve with each update. Thanks for reading us. Bye!

Hello friends! In Xiaomi MIUI Custom ROM, we can find different special options, which allow you to backup to the cloud, customize your device to your liking. But there are also other functions that allow you to control the behavior of apps. For example, it is possible to restrict data usage. One of these options is the possibility to restrict which apps run in the background. A function that will allow you to save battery and improve the performance of the device in general. When you buy a new device there is usually nothing to worry about. But as you install apps, the performance starts to decrease, if that happens to you, you may have many apps running in the background, which are draining your battery without your permission. Therefore, in this post, we will show you how to prevent apps from running in the background in MIUI.

Disable auto-start

An effective way to prevent apps from running in the background is to disable the auto-start feature. The app will only be activated when you have opened it, and will not start automatically. Normally apps that have this option enabled tend to drain the battery.

First step

Open your phone’s Settings

Open your phone’s Settings

Second step

Then go to Apps

Then go to Apps

Third step

After that, go to the Permissions section

After that, go to the Permissions section

Fourth step

Next, tap Autostart

Next, tap Autostart

Fifth step

Finally, disable Autostart for the apps that you do not want to use this feature.

Finally, disable Autostart for the apps that you do not want to use this feature.

Restrict the activity of individual apps in the background

It is possible that disabling the automatic startup is not enough to prevent apps from continuing to run in the background. In that case, it is possible through the settings to restrict the activity of apps in the background, but you should take into account that some may need this feature to work properly.

First step

Open your phone’s Settings.

Open your phone’s Settings.

Finally, select restrict background activity.

Conclusion

Restricting apps in the background will help you to improve your phone’s performance, you will notice it more fluid and with longer battery life, this way you can have more control over which apps are running at all times on your phone. You should take into account that the behavior of some apps can be hindered if you restrict their activity in the background. This can mainly happen in messaging apps that need to be constantly running.
