How To Install NoMachine Remote Desktop Toll on Ubuntu 18.04

Today, we are going to learn that how to Install NoMachine Remote Desktop Toll on Ubuntu 18.04. Before proceeding further , let’s have a short introduction about NoMachine.

What is NoMachine?

NoMachine is a remote desktop tool that permits you to access a local computer or local network. It is very helpful for sharing access with your colleagues, family and also in office work at local scale. By NoMachine, you can perform various actions on remote computer & use the session for your work. So, in this tutorial we are going to see that how we can Install NoMachine on Ubuntu 18.04. Just follow the below steps for easy installation.

Step 1: Update Your System

As usual, it’s good practice to update your system before installing any updates. Run the below command to update your system.

sudo apt update

Install wget

sudo apt -y install wget

Step 2: Download NoMachine Remote Desktop Tool

As NoMachine remote desktop tool is available in .deb package for Ubuntu, So download it from their official website. You can also run the following command to download it as I’m doing from CLI.

wget https://download.nomachine.com/download/6.9/Linux/nomachine_6.9.2_1_amd64.deb

After the file downloaded, install it by typing

sudo dpkg -i nomachine_6.9.2_1_amd64.deb

You’ll see the output like this

NX> 700 the user account must be a member of the CUPS System Group: lpadmin.
NX> 700 Installing: nxnode version: 6.9.2.
NX> 700 Using installation profile: Ubuntu.
NX> 700 Install log is: /usr/NX/var/log/nxinstall.log.
NX> 700 Creating configuration in: /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg.
NX> 700 Installing: nxserver version: 6.9.2.
NX> 700 Using installation profile: Ubuntu.
NX> 700 Install log is: /usr/NX/var/log/nxinstall.log.
NX> 700 Creating configuration in: /usr/NX/etc/server.cfg.
NX> 700 Install completed at: اتوار فروری 23 09:49:10 2020.
NX> 700 NoMachine was configured to run the following services:
NX> 700 NX service on port: 4000

As we have installed NoMachine Remote Desktop successfully, now it’s time to see that how can we use it.

Step 3:How To Use NoMachine Remote Desktop Tool?

Navigate to your desktop applications and search for NoMachine remote desktop tool.

Then the welcome screen of NoMachine would appear & provide you the information to Connect anyone to your computer as you can see from the image below:

If anyone want to connect with you provide the above information as

  • nx://192/168.100.5
  • ssh://192/168.100.5

Click on Continue button & then create a new connection by clicking on the icon of computer with plus sign.

After it choose the protocol you want to connect with & then click on Continue.

Provide your host IP address to continue.

Select the authentication method.

Then select the proxy settings

And finally save the connection.

Now, you can connect to the remote machine.
