How To Install Google Chrome on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8

Google Chrome one of the most using search engine worldwide developed by Google uses the Blink engine. It has greater share in browser usage worldwide available in many languages. Chrome is also adding new features like themes, wallpapers, customization to look your web more attractive. In this tutorial, we are going to Install it on our CentOS Operating System. Follow the below steps to easily Install Google Chrome on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8.

Step 1: Add Repository

Firstly, add the Google Chrome repository to your system

[root@localhost sabi]# cat <<EOF>> /etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo
[google-chrome]
name=google-chrome
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub
EOF
[root@localhost sabi]#

Step 2: Installing Google Chrome

After adding repository move towards the installation of Google Chrome using yum command.

yum install -y google-chrome-stable

You will see the similar upon successful Installation of Chrome.

Step 3: Open Google Chrome

Open the Google Chrome by Navigating to Activities and search for Google Chrome

You can also launch Google Chrome from your Terminal by typing

google-chrome

Choose the option default or leave it. Similarly the other option and press OK
