<p>We are going to explain what it is and how to find the <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 11</a> Startup <a href="https://www.osradar.com/how-to-edit-windows-10-start-menu-folders-and-applications/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">folder</a>. Actually, it is not only one but two folders in different places. These are folders that will give you control over the applications or programs that run at startup when you start Windows. Let&#8217;s start by explaining exactly what these folders do. Also, why there are two of them and what each one is for. Then, we will also go on to tell you how you can enter them to use them.</p>

<h2>What is the Windows Startup folder</h2>

<p>The <strong>Windows 11 Startup</strong> folder is a folder in which you can add applications. Its particularity is that the programs you add will start together with the operating system. This means that when you turn on or restart the computer, these applications in the folder will run automatically.</p>

<p>So, if you want a particular program or application to start automatically when you turn on your computer, then you just need to add its shortcut to the Startup folder. It is quite easy once you know where to find it. However, there is something you should keep in mind. The more applications you add, the slower the computer will start. In fact, launching these applications becomes one of the Windows startup steps. Therefore, abusing this folder can be bad and make it run slow.</p>

<p>Some applications that you install may be automatically added to this folder without your permission. Hence, the normal thing to do is to go to the task manager to prevent apps from starting with Windows. However, what you are going to do with Windows startup folders is the reverse process. That is to say, to make a program run automatically when the operating system starts.</p>

<p>On Windows, you can find two different Startup folders. Moreover, both are hidden and in different locations on the system. One of them is for configuring the applications that start at logon with a specific user. The other one is for the ones that will start at general startup with any user.</p>

<p>This will give you more flexibility in case you share a computer with other people. In fact, you have the possibility that your decisions to add applications at startup will not impact Windows performance when logged on with another user.</p>

<h2>How to Find Windows Startup Folders</h2>

<p>To find the Windows Startup folders, the first step is to go to the file explorer and view the hidden files, which are hidden by default. To do this, open the file explorer and in the top bar click on the <strong><em>View </em></strong>menu. A menu will open in which you have to click on <em><strong>Show</strong></em>, and once inside click on <strong><em>Hidden items.</em></strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="650" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st-1024x650.png" alt="" class="wp-image-38530" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st-1024x650.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st-300x190.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st-768x487.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st-696x442.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st-1068x678.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Once you can see the hidden items, you can navigate to the <strong>Windows Startup</strong> folders. There are two different folders, and you can enter both from the file explorer and the application launcher that appears when you press the keys Windows + R. It is the window where it says <strong><em>Run</em></strong>.</p>

<ul><li><strong>User&#8217;s startup folder:</strong> In the file explorer, you have to go to: <em><strong>C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup</strong></em>. You can also press Windows + R, and in the Run box type <strong><em>shell:startup</em>.</strong></li></ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="782" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2-1024x782.png" alt="" class="wp-image-38531" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2-1024x782.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2-300x229.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2-768x586.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2-696x531.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2-1068x815.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st2.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<ul><li><strong>General startup folder</strong>: In file explorer, you have to go to <strong><em>C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp</em></strong>. You can also press Windows + R, and in the Run box type <strong><em>shell:common startup</em></strong>.</li></ul>

<p>And now, you can add shortcuts to the Home folder you have chosen. To do this, right-click on the folder and select the <strong>Shortcu</strong>t option to select the application you want to add.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="749" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4-1024x749.png" alt="" class="wp-image-38532" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4-1024x749.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4-300x219.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4-768x562.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4-696x509.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4-1068x781.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/st4.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>You can also find the .exe file of the program or application and drag it into the startup folder with the right mouse button pressed instead of the left mouse button. This will open a menu with the option to create the shortcut.</p>

<h2>Conclusion</h2>

<p>Windows 11 startup folder is an essential feature that allows you to manage your startup programs and applications. It’s important to know that there are two hidden folders that you can access to manage your startup programs. By following the steps mentioned in this post, you can easily access these folders and manage your startup programs with ease.</p>

<p>Windows 10 is a constantly evolving operating system. Therefore, it is introducing changes in its functions and tools. So, some are updated and others are removed to increase the performance of the system. Despite these changes, some tools remain. One of these tools is<em> msconfig</em>. It is well known that its function is to manage Windows startup. In addition, a clean and tidy startup greatly enhances the user experience. Read on to find out how to configure <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows</a> 10 boot options.</p>

<h2>What is msconfig</h2>

<p>We have discussed the importance of booting Windows. Indeed, when it starts to give problems, then the system slows down. It is even capable of rendering it completely unusable. These errors can be varied, as well as the ways to solve them. A slow startup can slow down your work. However, the solution is sometimes simple. That is why it is so important to know how msconfig works.</p>

<p>Actually, msconfig stands for system configuration. Therefore, it is a system utility whose initial function was to resolve problems associated with Windows startup. However, it has been evolving and diversifying its functions. Thanks to msconfig it will be possible to execute tasks such as:</p>

<ul><li>Ease of configuring the way Windows starts.</li><li>Change the startup procedure.</li><li>Select startup services and programs that will be loaded along with the system, and many more actions.</li></ul>

<p>Today, we offer you a complete guide on how this tool works.</p>

<h2>Windows 10 boot settings</h2>

<p>There are several ways to access msconfig. Let&#8217;s see them:</p>

<ul><li>Use the Win+R combination and run the msconfig command.</li><li>Press the Win+q combination to open the search box. You can also click the search button. Once there, just enter the term <em>System Configuration.</em></li><li>Follow the path Windows <strong>Start&gt;Windows Administrative Tools&gt;System Configuration</strong>.</li><li>We can also launch it from <strong>PowerShell </strong>or the<strong> Command Prompt. </strong>In fact, just launch it and then run the <em>msconfig</em> command.</li></ul>

<p>In this opportunity, we will use the shortcut Win+R:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="399" height="206" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot.png" alt="Opening Windows boot settings" class="wp-image-33169" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot.png 399w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot-300x155.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px" /><figcaption>Opening Windows boot settings</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to activate Windows 10 startup services</h2>

<p>This option is in the General tab.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot2.png" alt="Startup type" class="wp-image-33171" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot2.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot2-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /><figcaption>Startup type</figcaption></figure>

<p>As you can see, msconfig provides many options to choose from:</p>

<ul><li><strong>Normal startup:</strong> This is the system default option. Therefore, it will load all startup items, drivers, and services that have been installed.</li><li><strong>Diagnostic startup:</strong> Its use is similar to booting in safe mode. If you select this option, only Windows 10 services and drivers will run. Likewise, network services and third-party application services will run. These services are of high security impact, such as antivirus and firewall. This mode allows you to determine if Windows services are affecting the correct use of the system.</li><li><strong>Selective startup:</strong> When this option is selected, Windows 10 will start with only basic services and drivers. It is also possible to choose other services and startup items.</li></ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot3.png" alt="Selective startup in Windows 10" class="wp-image-33173" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot3.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot3-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /><figcaption>Selective startup in Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to change the boot system in Windows 10</h2>

<p>Nowadays, it is very common to have two operating systems installed on the computer. A dual boot mode then allows you to choose which system to boot with. Fortunately, msconfig allows you to edit these values to choose the default option. You can check these values in the Startup tab. If there is more than one operating system, then they will appear there. To change the default system, just select it. Finally, click on <strong>Set as default.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot4.png" alt="Setting an operating system as default for startup" class="wp-image-33175" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot4.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot4-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /><figcaption>Setting an operating system as default for startup</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to configure dual boot in Windows 10</h2>

<p>This option applies when using dual boot. In effect, when the system is turned on or restarted, the available operating systems will be displayed. You may not want to spend so much time waiting for the default system to boot. In fact, the Windows default is to wait 30 seconds. So from the Boot tab please click on the Timeout field. Then enter the timeout time expressed in seconds. Finally click on Apply and OK to save the changes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot5.png" alt="Setting the start time" class="wp-image-33176" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot5.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot5-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /><figcaption>Setting the start time</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Advanced Windows 10 boot options</h2>

<p>There are some advanced options that allow you to improve the operating system startup. These advanced options involve changes to memory, processors, or debugging elements. To go to these options, just go to the Boot tab. Then click on<strong> Advanced Options.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot6.png" alt="Opening the advanced options" class="wp-image-33178" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot6.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot6-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /><figcaption>Opening the advanced options</figcaption></figure>

<p>From there you can configure some elements. Basically, the number of processors and the maximum amount of RAM that we want Windows to allocate at startup.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="379" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot7.png" alt="Editing the Processor and Ram values assigned to Windows startup" class="wp-image-33179" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot7.png 379w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot7-295x300.png 295w" sizes="(max-width: 379px) 100vw, 379px" /><figcaption>Editing the Processor and Ram values assigned to Windows startup</figcaption></figure>

<p>The Global debug configuration field is disabled by default. There is a reason for this. Actually this function is in charge of specifying the connection configuration of the debugger on the local machine. Therefore, its purpose is to allow a kernel debugger to communicate with a debugger host. As you can see, these are rather complex concepts. So, if you are not sure what you are doing, then you better leave it as it is.</p>

<h2>Windows 10 Advanced Startup</h2>

<p>Windows also has an advanced startup mode. This option allows you to make changes and also to repair the system startup. Please follow the path below: <strong>Windows Settings&gt;Update &amp; Security&gt;Recovery.</strong> Now, in the Advanced Startup option, click on <strong>Restart Now.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8-1024x787.png" alt="Advanced Windows startup" class="wp-image-33181" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot8.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Advanced Windows startup</figcaption></figure>

<p>It will immediately restart the system. Next, just click on the Troubleshoot button.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="692" height="469" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot9.png" alt="" class="wp-image-33183" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot9.png 692w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot9-300x203.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 692px) 100vw, 692px" /></figure>

<p>Now, click on <strong>Advanced Options</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="698" height="404" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot11.png" alt="" class="wp-image-33184" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot11.png 698w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot11-300x174.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot11-696x403.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 698px) 100vw, 698px" /></figure>

<p>Then, click on <strong>Startup Settings</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="648" height="455" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot12-1.png" alt="" class="wp-image-33190" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot12-1.png 648w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot12-1-300x211.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px" /></figure>

<p>Finally, you will restart Windows with the advanced options.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="648" height="595" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot14.png" alt="" class="wp-image-33191" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot14.png 648w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot14-300x275.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px" /></figure>

<h2>How to boot Windows 10 in safe mode</h2>

<p>This tool also allows you to start the system in safe mode. Consequently, Windows starts in its most basic form, without drivers and various services. This allows to perform administration tasks and to be able to perform repairs. Just go to the Boot tab. Once there, scroll down to Boot Options. Then check the Secure Boot box.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot13.png" alt="Enabling Safe boot in Windows 10" class="wp-image-33187" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot13.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot13-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /><figcaption>Enabling Safe boot in Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Safe boot options</h2>

<p>In addition, there are configuration options. Let&#8217;s see what they are:</p>

<ul><li>Minimal: With this option, the secure boot runs as normal, with a user interface and no network services enabled.</li><li>Alternate Shell: This option opens the command prompt in safe mode. Network services and the graphical user interface are disabled by default.</li><li>Repair Active Directory: This is a normal safe startup that runs Active Directory services and features, useful for computers in a domain.</li><li>Network: Runs normal secure boot with network services enabled.</li><li>No GUI startup<br>By selecting this option, during startup, the usual loading screen will not be displayed. In this, only the standard video drivers that come with the operating system by default will be loaded.</li><li>OS boot information<br>If we use this option, we must also enable the No GUI boot option. With these options, the usual Windows loading screen will be replaced by a black screen. There, we will see complete information about the drivers that are loaded during the boot process. Therefore, in case Windows crashes in the boot process, this display mode can be useful to find the driver that causes the crash. Consequently, facilitating support tasks.</li></ul>

<h2>Disable startup services in Windows 10</h2>

<p>Windows 10 is an operating system that loads a number of proprietary and third-party services and processes during startup. Theoretically, its function is to improve system performance. However, they can have a negative impact on the operation of the system in terms of speed and performance. So from the Services tab, you can edit those that you do not want to start with the system. You can complement this task with this <a href="https://www.osradar.com/how-to-prevent-unnecessary-services-from-running-in-windows-10/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">tutorial.</a> Note that some Microsoft services should not be disabled, as they may cause instability. Therefore, it is advisable to check the box to hide Microsoft services.</p>

<h2>How to remove Windows 10 startup programs</h2>

<p>Many programs tend to start together with Windows. Sporadically, it saves time. However, eventually, it can slow down system startup. To avoid this, click on the Startup tab. And then click on Task Manager. From there, follow the instructions in this <a href="https://www.osradar.com/how-to-change-startup-programs-windows-10/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">tutorial.</a></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="571" height="385" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot16.png" alt="" class="wp-image-33193" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot16.png 571w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/boot16-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /></figure>

<h2>Msconfig tools.</h2>

<p>Hello! You have probably heard of programs that start automatically with Windows. Indeed, it is a feature that can be very useful. It allows you to access programs without having to launch them. They start automatically at system startup. However, they can also be responsible for slowing down computer startups. So today we will learn how to change the <a href="https://www.osradar.com/category/windows/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10</a> startup programs.</p>

<h2>Modifying Windows startup behavior.</h2>

<p>Let&#8217;s see how to add and remove startup programs in Windows 10. Some programs adopt this behavior when they are installed. However, we can change this situation. To do this, it is necessary to go to the Windows task manager. With this in mind, press the combination Control+Shift+Esc. Once there, click on the Startup tab. Once there, we will see a list of the programs that start with Windows. Additionally, in the Status column you can verify if it is enabled or not to start. Finally, in the Startup Impact column, you can verify the level of impact on the system startup.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="712" height="672" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star.png" alt="Programs on Windows startup" class="wp-image-31080" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star.png 712w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star-300x283.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star-696x657.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 712px) 100vw, 712px" /><figcaption>Programs on Windows startup</figcaption></figure>

<p>From here you can change the behavior of Windows startup programs. In fact, just right-click on the program. Then, you only have to enable or disable it according to your taste.</p>

<h2>Adding or removing Windows startup programs from the system folder.</h2>

<p><a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows </a>dedicates a folder for programs that are loaded at startup. So we can edit the contents of such a folder. However, its location is not well known to users. In fact, there are two folders in total. One for the startup programs associated with the particular user. And another one for the programs that start for all users. These folders are: </p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup</pre>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp</pre>

<p>Alternatively, you can access these directories by executing these commands:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">shell:startup</pre>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">shell:common startup</pre>

<p>Remember to press the Win+R combination to run either command:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="399" height="206" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-31081" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star2.png 399w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star2-300x155.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px" /></figure>

<p>Then, just create a desktop shortcut to the program executable. Then copy that shortcut to the folder above.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="456" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3-1024x456.png" alt="Adding a program to the startup programs folder." class="wp-image-31082" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3-1024x456.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3-300x134.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3-768x342.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3-696x310.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3-1068x476.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star3.png 1073w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Adding a program to the startup programs folder.</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Changing startup programs from Windows Settings</h2>

<p>We can also change the Windows startup programs from the system settings. With this in mind, press the Win+I combination. Once there, click on <strong>Apps.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4-1024x787.png" alt="Windows Settings&gt;Apps" class="wp-image-31083" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star4.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Windows Settings>Apps</figcaption></figure>

<p>Next, in the left column, please click on Startup. As a result, the list of programs that start at system startup will be displayed. Finally, just disable or enable the switch depending on whether you want them to start or not.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5-1024x787.png" alt="" class="wp-image-31085" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/star5.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Ultimately we have seen how to change the Windows 10 startup programs, so you can include the one you want. Or simply increase the speed of system startup. Bye!</p>

<p>Hello! <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10</a> is an attractive and very easy to use system. However, some criticism has come for being too &#8220;heavy&#8221;. That is, depending on the characteristics of the hardware, its startup can be very slow. This situation is verified by comparing the performance of the computer with respect to another with the same characteristics but using GNU / Linux. Sometimes, what causes this slow start is the amount of programs that are automatically loaded with the start of the system. Some of these apps are necessary for the correct system. On the contrary, others are started without real need. Since many programs set this option to be installed. And the worst thing is that they do so unconsciously for the user. As a result, the system suffers a slowdown. But don&#8217;t worry, today we will see how to enable and disable startup applications in Windows 10.</p>

<h2>Using the task manager to enable and disable programs on Windows 10 startup.</h2>

<p>The first option we will use is the Windows Task Manager. From this component you can control various aspects of the system. For example, manage the apps that are started along with the system. With this in mind right-click on a blank space in the taskbar. Then click on <strong>Task Manager.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="342" height="527" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start.png" alt="Accessing the Task Manager" class="wp-image-23686" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start.png 342w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start-195x300.png 195w" sizes="(max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px" /><figcaption>Accessing the Task Manager</figcaption></figure>

<p>Another way to run the Task Manager is by pressing the combination <strong>Ctrl+Alt+Esc. </strong>Once inside the Task Manager, please select the Startup tab. Immediately a list of the apps that start next to the system will be displayed. Additionally, you can check the status. That is, if they are enabled or disabled. Similarly, the level of impact on the startup of the system is displayed. Consequently, to disable a program from the Windows startup, you only have to right-click on it. And then proceed to disable it.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="790" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2-1024x790.png" alt="Disabling a program that starts with the startup of Windows." class="wp-image-23693" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2-1024x790.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2-768x592.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2-696x537.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2-1068x824.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start2.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Disabling a program that starts with the startup of Windows.</figcaption></figure>

<p>On the contrary, if you want to enable it, you only have to repeat the operation on a program already disabled.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="788" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3-1024x788.png" alt="Enabling a program to start with the start of Windows 10" class="wp-image-23696" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3-1024x788.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3-768x591.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3-696x536.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3-1068x822.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Enabling a program to start with the start of Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Using the Windows Settings to manage the programs that start together with Windows.</h2>

<p>Another way to manage these apps is through Windows Settings. With this intention, press the Win+I combination. Once there, click on <strong>Apps.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-1024x787.png" alt="" class="wp-image-23697" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4-80x60.png 80w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start4.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Then, in the left column click on Startup. Immediately the list of apps and their impact on the system will be displayed. Additionally, there is a pin to enable or disable the app according to your needs.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-1024x787.png" alt="Turns on or off the apps that will start together with the start of Windows 10." class="wp-image-23698" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5-80x60.png 80w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/start5.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Turns on or off the apps that will start together with the start of Windows 10.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Ultimately we have seen how to enable and disable applications on the startup of Windows 10. This can make a difference for many users. All right, that&#8217;s it for now.
