<p>Hello! The visual aspect of the desktop and the icons are essential in the customization. Also, configuring them is important to improve the user experience. Since we can edit them according to our needs. Well, DPI stands for dots per inch and is closely related to pixels. In today&#8217;s post, we will see how to change DPI and display scaling <a href="https://www.osradar.com/category/windows/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10.</a></p>

<h2>What is DPI?</h2>

<p>As mentioned, DPI literally stands for dots per inch. In addition, it is a unit of measurement used to represent the dimensional levels of a monitor, which is used to determine the resolution of devices such as cameras and printers. This is used to determine the resolution of devices such as cameras and printers. On the other hand, the resolution and DPI of a monitor is already determined. Consequently, if we use an image with more DPI than the monitor, then it will look bigger.</p>

<h2>How to change the DPI and scaling in Windows 10 from the Settings.</h2>

<p>The first thing we have to do is to enter the <strong>Windows Settings.</strong> With this in mind, press the Win+I combination. Once there, click on <strong>System.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2-1024x787.png" alt="Windows Settings&gt;System" class="wp-image-30100" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi2.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Windows Settings>System</figcaption></figure>

<p>A new window will open. Please click on <strong>Display</strong> in the left column. Then scroll down in the menu on the right. You can modify the scale in the <strong>Scale and Layout </strong>section.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3-1024x787.png" alt="Modifying the display scaling in Windows 10" class="wp-image-30101" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Modifying the display scaling in Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<p>If you modify the percentage, you will see how the size of what you see on the display changes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="779" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4-1024x779.png" alt="" class="wp-image-30102" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4-1024x779.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4-300x228.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4-768x584.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4-696x530.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4-1068x813.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi4.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>We can also set a custom scale. With this in mind, click on <strong>Advanced scaling settings.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5-1024x787.png" alt="" class="wp-image-30103" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi5.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>In the next window, you will see two options related to the scale. First, the scaling fix for applications. And finally the custom scaling. Note that you can assign any value you want. However, you may cause some elements not to be displayed correctly. Therefore, proceed with caution.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6-1024x787.png" alt="Setting a custom scaling value. " class="wp-image-30104" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi6.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Setting a custom scaling value.</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Change DPI of a Windows 10 program</h2>

<p>With the above method, we will set the changes in a general way. But it is also possible to edit the scaling to a specific program. This avoids program display problems when high scaling is performed. Please follow these steps. Right-click on the app shortcut. Then go to <strong>Properties.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="405" height="762" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi7.jpg" alt="Entering the program properties" class="wp-image-30106" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi7.jpg 405w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi7-159x300.jpg 159w" sizes="(max-width: 405px) 100vw, 405px" /><figcaption>Entering the program properties</figcaption></figure>

<p>Now please click on the <strong>Compatibility </strong>tab. Next, click on <strong>Change high DPI settings.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="363" height="543" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi8.png" alt="" class="wp-image-30107" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi8.png 363w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi8-201x300.png 201w" sizes="(max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px" /><figcaption>Modifying the DPI settings.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Next, check the box <strong>High DPI scaling override</strong>. And then select the <strong>System (enhanced) </strong>option.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="338" height="399" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi9.png" alt="" class="wp-image-30108" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi9.png 338w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/dpi9-254x300.png 254w" sizes="(max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px" /></figure>

<p>This way you configure the DPI setting for a specific application. Okay, so ultimately we have seen how to change DPI and display scaling <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10.</a> From now on you can correct the appearance of some problematic applications.
