More and more users are deciding to give Windows 11 a try. Sadly, they are also those who realize all the problems that this system has. Especially those who have already installed the 2022 update, the 22H2, released a couple of months ago. This update was expected to improve and evolve the system. On the contrary, it has left it full of difficulties and failures, both in the system itself and, for example, when playing games. Undoubtedly, an annoying bug in Windows 11. It has been a long wait, but we have good news, especially for gamers.

A few hours ago, Microsoft released a new cumulative patch for Windows 11 22H2, KB5020044. We are talking about a maintenance patch focused on fixing system problems. It also aims to add some functionality or feature that was left behind with the release of the system. All users can already find this patch, as an optional update, in Windows Update. It certainly brings many changes. However, the one that stands out the most is that it finally solves the performance problems when playing games.

KB5020044: main changes

As we can see on Microsoft’s update page, this patch finally addresses and fixes a number of bugs related to the graphics card debugging feature. These bugs directly affected the performance of the computer. Therefore, once this update is installed, games will finally run smoothly again. That is, more stable, and with much higher FPS.

In addition to this long-awaited fix, the new Windows 11 22H2 update also introduces several new features in a package called Moment 2. These new features were planned for the release of the 2022. However, for various reasons, they had to be postponed. Among others, the new features that we will find after installing this new patch are:

We will now see alerts when we run out of space on OneDrive within the Windows settings page.

If we have multiple accounts, we will see the total storage space on the profile page.

On the personalization page, we will now see a combination of Windows Spotlight and Themes.

Other corrections

In addition to all of the above, this patch also addresses other very important fixes. The aim is to avoid problems when using the operating system. The most important ones we find are:

Fixed a problem that caused some apps not to run.

Fixed a bug that caused a crash in Windows Explorer, especially when closing a context menu, and caused it to close.

Also, fixed a bug that caused that, when using the open with option, some applications stopped working.

You can see the full list of fixes in this patch at the following link.

How to upgrade to fix this Windows 11 bug.

As this is an optional patch, the update is not automatically installed on the systems. In fact, we will have to do it ourselves. To do this, what we have to do is to open the Windows Settings menu (using the keyboard shortcut Windows + I). Once there, go to Windows Update. Here we will be able to see the update ready to be downloaded and installed. And, if it does not appear, we must perform a manual search for updates from the button.

If not forced manually, remember that on December 12, Microsoft will release its new cumulative and security patches. It is expected that in addition to other fixes, they will include the changes of this optional update. This is how we have seen Microsoft get rid of this annoying bug in Windows 11.

Microsoft continues to make mistakes when releasing updates and patches. Indeed, complaints have arisen after the release of patch KB5005565. Some users have reported problems with Intel wireless adapters. Patch KB5005565 was released on September 14. It is also intended for Windows 10 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, and 2004 versions respectively. In addition, it was released to fix bugs. Although it has apparently caused others. In short, a Windows patch is breaking the Bluetooth connection.

A Windows patch is breaking the Bluetooth connection.

According to reports, this patch is causing bugs with Intel’s Bluetooth drivers. Specifically for some wireless adapters such as the Intel 720 chip. Some laptops reportedly lost Bluetooth functionality completely. For others, a code 10 error message appeared indicating power failure.

These are not the only problems. Freezing applications have been reported. As well as crashes when opening applications or files. There have also been reports of a white window when logging in. Fortunately, Microsoft has released a patch that fixes these bugs. This update is being implemented in a special way. That is, through a server-side update. Therefore, it is likely to take a few days to reach all users.

As already mentioned, this is not the first bug caused by Microsoft’s patches. We have recently reported printer failures. It is amazing how these failures continue to happen. The company says it is working hard to correct it. However, the facts seem to disprove them. As bugs continue to happen. In addition, the release of Windows 11 is less than a week away, and it has certainly raised a lot of expectations. And there is no doubt that Microsoft will continue to dominate the market. However, they need to improve the updates section. This is an anomalous situation for the user. So, This Windows patch is breaking the Bluetooth connection. All right, that’s all for now, see you soon!

Some Windows security updates were affected by problems during the month of March. In fact, at the beginning of the month, it was reported that an update caused a blue screen of death. Specifically, with computers connected to some printers. Therefore, Microsoft released a patch to fix this problem. However, the patch brought more bugs than fixes. So it had to be withdrawn and later re-released. Consequently, the Redmond company has adopted another policy. This time it has released a patch that fixes many problems. But it is released as an optional update. Today we will see that the latest Windows 10 patch fixes many bugs.

Latest optional Windows Update patch will solve many bugs

The monthly update will be optional

We are talking about a preview or preliminary version. Let’s say, a beta of the patch. It would usually be received on Thursdays of each month in the usual security patch. The general idea is to cater to those who have been really affected by problems. Those who should update as soon as possible. This way they avoid causing more inconvenience with the patch. The Windows Update Twitter account has clarified how everything will work.

The March 2021 monthly “C” release preview update for Windows 10, version 20H2 and Windows 10, version 2004 is now available. https://t.co/kd0iVyybZN
— Windows Update (@WindowsUpdate) March 29, 2021

Problems solved by this update

So pay attention. If you have been affected by some of these problems, then the optional update KB5000842 fixes them:

Fixed issue with zooming that occurs when using Microsoft Edge IE mode on devices using multiple high pixel density monitors.

Fixed issue causing High Dynamic Range (HDR) displays to appear much darker than expected.

A repaired issue causing video playback to be out of sync in duplicate mode when using multiple monitors.

Fixed issue that causes “Computing Filters” to be displayed indefinitely or not at all when filtering File Explorer search results.

Fixed issue that causes the split layout to be unavailable for the touch keyboard when a device is rotated to portrait mode.

Informs users when a Family Safety Plan child account has administrative privileges.

Fixed issue preventing closing toast notifications with the close button on touchscreen devices.

A repaired issue with 7.1-channel audio technology.

Fixed issue that causes a device to stop working if files or folders that OneDrive syncs are deleted.

So now you know. The latest Windows 10 patch fixes many bugs. However, it will be an optional download for more problems. We recognize Microsoft’s effort to improve the situation with updates. In addition, it is likely that more such measures will be taken in the future. This would imply a leap in quality. Since the user would benefit more. I am personally of the opinion that this policy should be maintained. All right, that’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates on Windows 10. Bye!

Meltdown and Spectre were the biggest inventions of the security flaws to date. They simply shook the world of cyber security to the roots. These are caused by hardware issues of the modern chipsets. Microsoft has released patches for these bugs, but the patches itself are in danger now.

Recently, a serious vulnerability has been found in the Microsoft patch for Meltdown. For a quick reminder, meltdown removes the barrier of memory and allows access to other apps’ memory locations unauthorized. You can check out the original nature of Meltdown here.

According to Alex Ionescu, a security researcher from cyber-security firm Crowdstrike, the patch allowed bypassing the security barrier and take the advantage of the chipset flaws for stealing information. Almost all the Microsoft Windows 10 versions are infected with the vulnerability, except the latest Windows 10 Redstone 4 (v1803). It seems like Microsoft has fixed the vulnerability in the latest update.

Old Windows 10 systems are still running the bypass-able patch for Meltdown. Instead of backporting the update faster, Microsoft has released another new update for the Windows Host Computer Service Shim (hcsshim) library flaw (CVE-2018-8155) that allowed a hacker execute remote code in the vulnerable system. The updated version of the “hcsshim” is available on GitHub.

How to Stay Secured

If you’re a Windows 10 user, make sure to update to the latest version – v1803. Microsoft is already working with the backport updates. According to our assumption, the patch may arrive in May 2018 Patch Tuesday, but it’s just a speculation.
