<p>The <strong>Properties</strong> window will be displayed immediately. Then click on the Tools tab. Finally, select <strong>Check </strong>to start searching for and correcting errors.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="363" height="499" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check2.png" alt="How to check disk in Windows 10" class="wp-image-30783" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check2.png 363w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check2-218x300.png 218w" sizes="(max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px" /><figcaption>How to check disk in Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<p>Afterwards, the wizard will most likely indicate that it did not get any errors. Therefore, no further examination is necessary. However, you can order a manual check.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="542" height="231" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check3.png" alt="" class="wp-image-30785" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check3.png 542w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check3-300x128.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 542px) 100vw, 542px" /></figure>

<p>Scanning of the unit will begin immediately. Please note that this may take from a few seconds to a few minutes. Depending on the type of hard drive being scanned.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="716" height="734" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check4.jpg" alt="Scanning the system for disk errors. <p>Finally, it will show you the results. It will most likely indicate that it has found no errors. Otherwise, it will ask you to reboot the system or schedule a reboot. So that when Windows restarts, it can proceed to fix the errors found.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="566" height="658" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check5.jpg" alt="Disk error check completed" class="wp-image-30788" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check5.jpg 566w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check5-258x300.jpg 258w" sizes="(max-width: 566px) 100vw, 566px" /><figcaption>Disk error check completed</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to check disk in Windows using PowerShell</h2>

<p>We can also do this task from PowerShell. Even from the Command Prompt. However, the tool must be run with administrator privileges. With this intention, press the Win+X combination. Then select the corresponding option:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="278" height="630" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check6.png" alt="" class="wp-image-30789" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check6.png 278w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check6-132x300.png 132w" sizes="(max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px" /></figure>

<p>Then use the following command: <em>chkdsk /f C:</em> which is used to analyze and correct possible errors on the disk. Please note that you can substitute <em>C:</em> depending on which disk you want to analyze. After running, you will see a warning window. This is because the command cannot be executed while the hard disk is in use. Therefore, you are asked to schedule the check for the next reboot. If you press Yes, then the disk will be checked for errors at the next Windows restart.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="859" height="732" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check7.png" alt="Check disk errors using PowerShell in Windows " class="wp-image-30790" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check7.png 859w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check7-300x256.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check7-768x654.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/check7-696x593.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 859px) 100vw, 859px" /><figcaption>Check disk errors using PowerShell in Windows </figcaption></figure>
