Hello! We are counting the days for the arrival of Windows 10 Sun Valley. It is logical, since it is the first major update of Windows 10 in several years. We have already discussed that the redesign will cover both the interior and the interface of the system. Therefore, we have shown some possible changes to be included. For example, we showed you what the Alarms and Clock app will look like. However, a long-awaited change will affect the file explorer. Since this design has remained unchanged for a long time. Moreover, it is an old and obsolete element. We have even shown you an excellent alternative. But, it seems that Microsoft heard users’ complaints. As a result, the file explorer will have a new look. In the following lines we will see how to activate the new Windows 10 file explorer.

Learn how to test the new look of the Windows 10 file explorer.

On the other hand, the new browser is a Windows Universal Platform (WUP) application. Therefore, it is only available for Windows 10 v1703 and later versions. To check which version of Windows you are running, do the following. Press the Win+R combination and then run the winver command.

Next you will see the operating system version.

So if you meet this premise, then you can enjoy it. Follow the steps below to use the new Windows 10 file explorer:

The first thing you need to do is to create a shortcut on the desktop. With this in mind, right-click on a blank space on the desktop.

The previous action will display the context menu. Accordingly, follow the path below:New>Shortcut

You will immediately be redirected to a box. In the item location, please paste the following:

explorer shell:AppsFolder\c5e2524a-ea46-4f67-841f-6a9465d9d515_cw5n1h2txyewy!App

Enter the location of the shortcut

Now it is time to name the direct shortcut. Therefore, assign the one you like. I will use Explorer.

Assigning a name to the new shortcut.

Just double-click on the shortcut, and you are ready to go! You now have access to the new Windows 10 file explorer.

New Windows 10 file explorer

At the end of the day, we have seen how to activate the new Windows 10 file explorer. This way we can continue previewing what will be Windows 10 Sun Valley. Bye!

Hello! It is rumored that this year Microsoft will renew the look of Windows 10. For example, the file browser is one of them. Since it is an essential working tool. Besides, it is incredible that it keeps the look from old editions. On the other hand, systems such as macOS and Unix have updated this element. But as far as Windows 10 is concerned, there are still no changes or evolution. Fortunately, the community of developers is very enthusiastic. So today we show you an extended free and open source option. We present you Files, the best option for the Windows 10 File Explorer.

Files for Windows 10 incorporates the tabbed view.

Certainly improvements and changes are expected for Windows 10. In fact, here we show you how to enable the new Windows 10X file explorer. This is an interesting option. However, it is oriented to files in the cloud. Nevertheless, these versions are far from a definitive final deliver. So today we show you a project with almost a couple of years of development. Files are available for download from the Microsoft Store. In addition, the project is hosted in GitHub. Similarly, Files offers the basic functions of the Windows file browser. But it also has an interesting addition. And that is that it incorporates the tabs. Additionally, it has a modern design inspired by Fluent Design. Similarly, the context menu works perfectly. So you only need to right-click on the mouse to see it in action. Any additional downloaded functions will be displayed normally.

Files working with the Windows 10 context menu.

An innovative and attractive design.

The design is very elegant and attractive. Because the tabs take up the right space on the top bar. In addition, it now incorporates the dual panel view. That is, it is possible to view folders in two different locations in the same window. Therefore, productivity is increased.

Files showing tabs and the dual panel mode.

The app offers many customization options. For example, choose the browser’s home page. You can even select the default terminal application. As for the display mode, it is very similar to that of the Windows file browser. For example, large icons, small icons, medium icons, details, etc. Similarly, it manages hidden files and extensions.

Another interesting aspect is an ongoing task panel. It displays notifications of operations performed by the browser. Such as the time remaining when copying or moving files. It even asks if you want to delete an item permanently when you delete it. That is, whether to go through the Recycle bin.

In short, these are the most relevant aspects of Files, the best option for the Windows 10 file browser. I’ve been using it for some time, and it’s practically flawless. Beyond some eventual lag when using the dual panel. We assume that with updates it will improve performance. However, it is my favorite option to browse the archives. See you later!

Hello! Certainly the archive scan is an essential element when it comes to controlling the contents. It is even so important, that there are many ways to access it. No matter if the keyboard or the mouse fails, the essential thing is to be able to open this tool. Stay with us to see different ways to open the file explorer in Windows 10.

From taskbar

One of the easiest ways to open the file browser is from the taskbar. It is well known that there, there are certain anchored icons that allow access to different elements. Indeed, it is very likely that a file cabinet icon will appear that directs to the file explorer.

Accessing the file explorer from the taskbar

If the icon does not appear, simply open the file explorer. Once there, right click on it and select Pin from taskbar.

From keyboard shortcut

The vast majority of keyboards have a Windows key. This has many functions, but when pressed together with another key, it launches many functions. Indeed, pressing the Win+E combination opens the File Explorer.

From Windows search

It is obviously possible to access the file explorer. To do so, just click on the search icon or press the Win+Q combination. Once there, start typing file explorer to go to the app.

Accessing the file browser from the Windows search.

From Start Menu

There are many ways to go to the file browser from the home menu. However, we will show you the easiest one. The first thing we have to do is press the start button. Then, scroll down to get Window System. Then, unfold it until you get the File Explorer.

Entering the file explorer from the start menu.

Hello! Microsoft does not stop working (except at Christmas) to continue polishing to Windows 10. In fact, users are gradually receiving the 20H2 update. Indeed, this last update of the year has focused on correcting errors and improving performance. Additionally, Microsoft has almost ready the 21H1 update. But it will soon further develop the 21H2 update. It is expected that this one will bring great changes, and among them a very expected one: the renovation of the file explorer. So do not despair, it is very likely that The new Windows 10 file explorer will arrive with 21H2 update.

Finally, the new file explorer will arrive in Windows 10.

Certainly with the arrival of Windows 10 many aesthetic aspects of the operating system were modified. However, the file browser has maintained its design over time. And let’s be clear, it needs urgent renovation. In fact this aspect in other operating systems such as GNU/Linux and macOS are superior. Since they have a modern look and include useful features such as tabbed view. But as for Windows 10, this is identical to that had Windows 7, in even very similar to Windows XP.

Currently, the Insider version of Windows 10 is in a FE_RELEASE phase. This means that the Redmond company uses this channel to do experiments. Some persist, and others are removed from the final version. Despite being tested internally, in the following video we can see what the new file browser looks like.

Certainly the new file browser, keeps similarities with the current one. However, the modifications are remarkable. For example, the left column shows the system’s main folders and directories. In addition, it offers cloud mounting points. On the other hand, in the central part the icons are much bigger. Consequently, the handling of the browser is easier. Certainly it lacks some functions, like the already mentioned tabs. But it is likely that they will be added soon. At the moment, what we saw looks very good.

What do we know about Windows 10 for the year 2021?

For now, there is nothing official about what is new in Windows 10 in 2021. Indeed, what is known about the 21H2 update comes from leaks. Besides the file explorer, renewals are expected for the context menu. Additionally, they will change most of the pre-installed programs in Windows. But without a doubt, the most shocking news is that the new Windows 10 file explorer will arrive with 21H2 update. No doubt big changes are coming for Windows 10. Let’s hope they are positive! See you later!
