<p>Hello! Windows 10 is a very complete system. Indeed, part of its effectiveness is due to the fact that it performs activities without the user knowing. One of them is the automatic maintenance of the system. This task is done daily, but can be disabled. However, this is not a recommended action. However, we want to give you the option of complete control over your system. So today we will see how to disable automatic maintenance in <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10.</a></p>

<h2>What is the automatic maintenance?</h2>

<p>It is a system activity that takes care of a series of tasks in Windows 10. In addition, these activities are not noticed by the user. For example, install app updates, perform disk cleanups and many other possibilities. As mentioned, these are unattended tasks. That is, they are performed automatically without the user&#8217;s intervention. In addition, they are simple tasks that hardly consume system resources. Therefore, it is very likely that the computer will not be affected by their performance.</p>

<div><a href="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-1024x682.jpg" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="682" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-1024x682.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-25476" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/screws-3481339_1280.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>As you can see, these are essential tasks that should not be deactivated. However, more modest equipment could see their functionality affected. In those cases, it is convenient to deactivate the automatic maintenance.</p>

<h2>How to modify the time of the automatic maintenance in Windows 10</h2>

<p>As mentioned, these tasks should always be active. However, in low power equipment it can cause problems. In any case, the first option we propose is to modify the time of maintenance. With this in mind enter the control panel. Once there click on <strong>System and Security.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="555" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-1024x555.png" alt="Please go to security and maintenance. " class="wp-image-25477" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-1024x555.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-300x163.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-768x416.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-1536x832.png 1536w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-696x377.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto-1068x579.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Please go to security and maintenance.</figcaption></figure>

<p>In the next window please click on <strong>Security and Maintenance.</strong></p>

<div><a href="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-1024x555.png" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="555" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-1024x555.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25479" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-1024x555.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-300x163.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-768x416.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-1536x832.png 1536w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-696x377.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2-1068x579.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto2.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Now you have to deploy the control in <strong>Maintenance</strong>. Then, click on <strong>change the Maintenance settings.</strong></p>

<div><a href="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-1024x555.png" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="555" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-1024x555.png" alt="Please change the maintenance settings. " class="wp-image-25480" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-1024x555.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-300x163.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-768x416.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-1536x832.png 1536w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-696x377.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3-1068x579.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto3.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Please change the maintenance settings.</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>Then you only have to set the maintenance of the computer at the time of preference.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="555" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-1024x555.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25484" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-1024x555.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-300x163.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-768x416.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-1536x832.png 1536w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-696x377.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1-1068x579.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto4-1.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Please select the time for automatic maintenance</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to disable automatic maintenance in Windows 10</h2>

<p>There is no section in Windows to disable this task. On the contrary, it is necessary to edit the Windows registry. As always, we recommend making a<a href="https://www.osradar.com/make-a-backup-of-the-windows-registry/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> registry backup </a>before proceeding. Well, press the Win+R combination and run the command: <em>regedit.</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="399" height="206" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto5.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25485" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto5.png 399w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto5-300x155.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px" /></figure>

<p>Then, go to this path:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\Maintenance</pre>

<p>Now click on the key located on the right.</p>

<div><a href="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-1024x555.png" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="555" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-1024x555.png" alt="Enter the Windows Registry Editor" class="wp-image-25486" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-1024x555.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-300x163.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-768x416.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-1536x832.png 1536w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-696x377.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6-1068x579.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto6.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Enter the Windows Registry Editor</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>Then, assign the number 1 to the value. Please close the editor and restart the computer.</p>

<div><a href="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-1024x554.png" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="554" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-1024x554.png" alt="Set the value of the key to 1" class="wp-image-25488" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-1024x554.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-300x162.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-768x416.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-1536x831.png 1536w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-696x377.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7-1068x578.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/auto7.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Set the value of the key to 1</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>This way we have seen how to disable the automatic maintenance in Windows 10. As mentioned, it is not something we recommend doing. However, according to the computer you could use it sometime. Bye!</p>
