Windows Task Manager is one of the oldest and most useful applications of Microsoft systems. It is intended for medium-advanced or professional users who want to thoroughly control the operation of their computer. It is also suitable for solving some problems arising from its use. Microsoft renewed it extensively in Windows 10 with the addition of some functions. It also included a greater integration with the system kernel and main applications. This was completed in Windows 11 leaving us a fascinating tool once we know its capabilities. An ordinary user usually uses it only for its best known function, such as ending a frozen application. However, its uses go much further, as we are going to show you.

Access and uses of the Windows Task Manager

Accessing this tool is extremely simple. Moreover, it can be done in several ways, including the use of keyboard shortcuts. Let’s review them:

Ctrl + Alt + Delete. This is the method that almost everyone knows. However, it is not the fastest because in Windows 11 it does not start directly. In addition, you will have to make an additional click to start it.

Ctrl + Shift + Esc. More direct than the previous one. In fact, it launches immediately the task manager. It also has the advantage that because of the position of the keyboard, it can be run with only one hand.

Taskbar. If you right-click with the mouse on the taskbar, there is an option to access the manager.

Advanced user menu. Another quick access using the mouse. Right-click on the start button to access the advanced menu. There you will also find this Task Manager.

Run. If you are used to using commands, press the keyboard shortcut Win + R and type taskmgr.

Search. Just type task in the general search engine, and you will see the access to this tool.

As for functions, as we said, the best known is to end a frozen application. Simply open the manager. Then, right-click on the application and click on end task.

Check why the application is frozen

What is less known is a function called analyze. This can help identify the problem. It also avoids having to terminate the application by brute force. Remember that it can result in data loss. It is available in the details tab.

Performance and resources

This is where the Windows 11 task manager really shines. Not only does it provide an overview of all running processes and applications. In fact, it also has several tools to effectively monitor system performance and how resources are allocated. It includes a lot of information, from the resource monitor (RAM, processor, graphics cards…). These elements offer real-time data visualization; diagnostic information with logs that you can share for evaluations; network details and other resources of interest.

Restarting Windows Explorer

Sometimes parts of the operating system become unresponsive (taskbar, file explorer, Startup, etc.), while other applications continue to run correctly. Restarting the PC usually solves the problem. However, restarting the browser may be sufficient. The task manager has a special action for this. If you use it, it will end the task and restart automatically.

Windows application management

The task manager is far from being the best window management tool. However, it has a couple of actions that may come in handy. To access them, you have to click on the drop-down arrow next to the one you want to manage. The ones that work offer five actions, from bring to front, maximize, minimize or end the task.

Online search for suspicious processes

You may occasionally see unknown processes in the task manager. Most of them will be legitimate. However, if you don’t trust it, you can check by clicking on the suspicious process and activating the online search. This will launch a search in the browser with the name of the application. In addition, the search includes the name of the process. Consequently, it will help you determine whether it is safe or malicious.

Additional columns for more details

By default, the new Windows 11 Task Manager only displays five columns when listing processes. These are: Name, CPU, Memory, Memory, Disk and Network. These are actually the most important ones. However, you can add up to six more columns by simply right-clicking in the header area. All of them can be useful in the right situation. Particularly the process name because it makes it easier to detect suspicious applications by their process name.

Switches between values and percentages

When browsing the process list, the CPU column can show percentages. However, in the other three default columns you can change them to absolute values, more useful in some situations. Simply right-click on any process. Then go to the resources submenu and you can switch between them.

Discover the open application file

Sometimes it is complicated to know the installation location of a particular program. The file explorer is the general option. However, if the application is in use, from the task manager you can access it in record time. Simply click on any process and select open file location. This will take you directly to the folder containing the executable file of the process. Works for applications, background processes and Windows processes. Fast and convenient.

Start the command prompt directly

In the task manager, you can go to the File menu and select run a new task to launch the run dialog box. Most people who use this tool know this because it is one of the ways to manually restart a frozen browser in previous versions of Windows. What not everyone knows is that you can access the Windows console in the same way by simply holding down the Control key. Very useful.

Starting the System Configurator

In Windows 11, if you run the msconfig command to configure the system, you will see that the startup function has been moved to the task manager. This is the tool that allows us to configure the applications that will start at startup. The tool provides information on the impact of each application on system performance and allows you to disable them at startup. If your PC is slow to boot or runs slower than usual, disable all non-essential applications/services from startup.

Several of the functions that you will read about in this article will show you that there is much more to discover beneath the surface of Windows 11. Indeed, you will come away with a revealing insight into how to maximize your relationship with this operating system. These mind-blowing features are ready to take full advantage of all the virtues of the Microsoft.

Get ready to unravel some of Windows 11’s well-kept secrets and enjoy them right now!

The best unknown functions of Windows 11

Notepad tabs

Notepad has been optimized. For this reason, it now allows more than one tab to be opened at the same time. This makes it much more productive to use than before. Thanks to one of the best features of Windows 11, you can manage and navigate between open files in a single window. In fact, it is possible to open as many tabs as you want. In addition, it allows you to place them in the order you want by dragging them. This addition makes the application modern and productive.

This is how you can record the screen

Another of the best functions of Windows 11 is the possibility of screen recording in a much simpler way than using the Xbox Game Bar. All you have to do is type in the taskbar Snippets and open the application.

Then select the video camera from the top menu. Then click on New and mark the area you want to record. You will see how Windows 11 will start recording your computer screen.

Windows 11 clock information

If you needed more precision in the clock in the Windows 11 taskbar, you can now add seconds to the display. You have to go to the taskbar settings to activate it, instead of the date and time settings. Under Taskbar Behaviors, scroll to the bottom of the list and check the Show seconds on system tray clock box. You will see how this becomes one of the best features of Windows 11 that you did not know and that are very practical.

Intelligent window management

Another of the best functions of Windows 11 is the one of being able to change the size and to align the windows automatically. This is something that saves a lot of time and makes everything much more productive.

Simply hover your mouse over the maximize button in the upper right corner of any window. In sequence, you will see a pop-up menu appear showing six different template options. Hover the cursor over the one you want of all these grids, and the current window will be displayed in that position.

Virtual desktops

This is one of the best features of Windows 11. However, it is also one of the least used by most users. Virtual desktops allow you to distribute active applications and windows between different startup screens. With this, everything will be much tidier. It also allows you to have a desktop for each task you do on the computer. That is to say, one of them to work, another one to play and another one to navigate, to give you an example.

Navigating between your desktops is as quick as clicking on the taskbar icon of the virtual desktops themselves (next to the magnifying glass). Alternatively, you can press Win + Ctrl + left/right arrow.

Clipchamp on Windows 11

Clipchamp is made for video editing, being able to handle quick cuts, fades and media inserts with ease. Additionally, it has an extremely simple to understand and very well implemented interface.

Another of the positive points of this application, which is present in Windows 11, is that you can make direct uploads to services such as YouTube and TikTok. You can also save the resulting files in a cloud such as OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox.

Widgets

Widgets are another of the best features of Windows 11. You can access them with just a mouse click (or by pressing Win + W).

You’ll be able to get the latest news, weather, stock prices, sports updates and more. It may be a bit limited at the moment. However, Microsoft has promised that it will be enhanced in future updates.

Quick assistance

If you have a family member or friend with a computer problem, and they are far away, you can use Windows 11 Quick Assistance to help them. At the moment that this person activates the program and initiates with their Microsoft account, they will generate a six-digit code to send it to you.

That’s when you should open Quick Assist on your computer. You then have to enter that code so that from there you can see what is happening on their computer. You can even request full control of it.

File Explorer tabs

Something that has become one of the best features of Windows 11 is File Explorer tabs. Now all Explorer windows can be grouped into tabs in a single container.

Just click the + button in the top menu bar (or press Ctrl + T) to bring up a new tab at the top of the window. This is just like any web browser.

Saving energy in Windows 11

Of course, you can change the power plan on Windows. Indeed, it has several specific settings to activate to reduce power consumption. You can manage it by going to Settings>System>Power & Battery>Energy Saver.

You can then enable power saving in the way you prefer. The stricter settings will also help prolong battery life if you have a laptop.

These 10 amazing, but overlooked features in Windows 11 in many cases, represent a reminder that this operating system has not only been a change in the interface.

Thanks to what you have just read, the next time you turn on your device you will remember these innovative options, and you will surely decide to take advantage of them. In fact, we are talking about some of the best features of Windows 11 today, but also some of the most forgotten.

You should be careful with some actions you perform on your Windows. Indeed, they may pose a risk to your security or impair the performance of the operating system. Windows 11 offers a renewed user experience. It also has a modern design and improved integration with Microsoft 365 applications. Additionally, new features such as support for Android apps and a revamped Microsoft Store have been added with the latest updates. However, to take full advantage of Microsoft’s operating system, there are some things you should never do on your PC. We share with you some of the bad practices that can affect your computer’s performance, security, and stability.

Never disable Microsoft Defender

Never disable Microsoft Defender, the antivirus integrated in Windows 11. Indeed, it protects you from all kinds of threats, such as viruses, malware, ransomware, and phishing.

This application is constantly updated and runs in the background without affecting your computer’s performance. If you disable it, you will be leaving your computer vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Besides, they can steal your data, damage your files or crash your system.

Do not download applications from unreliable sources

Certainly, Windows 11 allows you to install Android apps from the Amazon store. However, that doesn’t mean you can download anything from the Internet. If you want to get a certain program on your PC, make sure it comes from an official source or a secure website.

Otherwise, you may install malicious software. This may contain viruses, spyware, or adware. Remember that it is possible for them to slow down your computer and even take full control. This will affect your personal information and files. As much as possible, try to download all your applications from the official Microsoft store. Keep in mind that this is the best thing you can do to keep your computer safe.

Do not ignore Windows 11 updates

Windows 11 updates are important because they include improvements in performance, security and stability. If you ignore them, you will be losing these advantages. Also, at the same time exposing your computer to possible vulnerabilities.

Windows 11

So the best thing to do is to accept each and every update. Or check for them manually from the system settings.

Do not use weak passwords

It should be noted that passwords are the first line of defense in protecting your personal information. If you choose weak or easy-to-guess combinations, you will be making hackers’ job easier.

Avoid simple passwords such as 123456 or abcdef. Consider using password managers to keep your credentials secure. Also, include a set of letters and numbers to make it a strong lock for the digital world.

Never connect to a public Wi-Fi network without a VPN

When you connect to a public Wi-Fi network, like the one at an airport, for example, you are automatically exposing your Internet traffic to possible interceptions or cyberattacks. It means someone could see what you do online. Or that they can even access your sensitive information.

To avoid this, it’s best to use a VPN. Remember that it encrypts your connection and allows you to browse securely and anonymously. There are many options available, some free and others for a fee. However, most of them fulfill their function perfectly.

Never use obsolete programs

Obsolete software is software that does not receive updates from its developers. Or, simply, it is not compatible with the most recent versions of the operating system.

This type of program can cause problems on your Windows 11 computer, such as slowdowns, crashes, or incompatibilities. In addition, it can also represent a security risk. Indeed, they may contain vulnerabilities that have not been corrected.

Do not disable User Account Control

User Account Control (UAC) is a very important Windows 11 security feature. It asks for confirmation when you want to perform an action that requires administrator permissions. For example, installing a program or changing system settings.

If you disable UAC, you will be losing protection and giving free rein to any action that may affect your computer. This is why it is best to keep it enabled. Unless you are an advanced user and have knowledge of what you are doing.

Do not install too many programs on your PC

Certainly, Windows 11 offers you a great variety of applications to work, play and create content. However, that doesn’t mean you have to install them all. If you do, you will be taking up hard disk space. In addition to consuming system resources and generating registry entries.

In the end, this can significantly affect your computer’s performance, slow it down or cause errors. The best thing to do is to install the programs you really need. It is also necessary to delete the ones you no longer want or no longer use. Be sure that your computer will thank you for it.

By following the above recommendations, you will be able to get the most out of your Windows 11 PC and guarantee the security and privacy of your personal data. There is no doubt that Microsoft’s operating system is very complete and advanced. However, it also requires certain care and precautions to keep it in optimal conditions.

We are going to explain how to make a program start automatically when you turn on your Windows 11 computer. You probably already know how to make a program not run when you start Windows. However, now we are going to do the opposite. Indeed, you may have a particular program or application that you always use. But also, it does not have the option to launch at startup. Therefore, we will tell you how to do this manually. Also, without having to touch anything in any configuration.

How to Automate Program Launch on Windows 11 Startup

The first thing you need to do is to open Windows File Explorer. Here, you have to activate the option to view hidden files and folders. With this in mind, click on the View button on the top bar. Next, and in the menu that opens, click on Show. Finally, choose the option of Hidden elements that will appear at the bottom.

Once you have done this, you have to navigate to the folder of programs that run at startup. With this in mind, in the file explorer you can directly paste the address:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup,

Before proceeding, you now have to create the shortcut to the program you want to start next to the PC on the desktop. Windows will not let you create the shortcut in the startup folder. Therefore, you have to do it somewhere else first. To make the shortcut, drag the .exe executable of the program to the desktop by holding down the right mouse button. Finally, when you release it, choose the option Create shortcut icons here.

Now, simply move that shortcut to the Home folder that you have open in the file explorer. When you do so, Windows will ask for administrator permissions to move the folder, and you will have to grant them by clicking on the Continue button.

And that’s it. All the shortcuts of this folder will be executed with the beginning of session, just when you turn on Windows. Just remember that the more applications you add, the slower Windows will start up. Consequently, it is not advisable to abuse this function.

Some benefits of having programs start up with Windows

There are several benefits to making a program start with Windows:

Save time. You can save time by having your program start automatically when you turn on your computer. This means that you don’t have to remember to start it manually every time you want to use it.

Ensure that your program is always running. If you have a program that you need to run all the time, such as an antivirus program or a file backup program, you can ensure that it is always running by making it start with Windows. This way, you don’t have to worry about it not being running when you need it.

Perform tasks automatically. You can use your program to perform tasks that you need to do regularly, such as checking for updates or backing up your files. By making your program start with Windows, you can ensure that these tasks are always done, even if you forget to do them yourself.

Monitor your computer for problems. You can use your program to monitor your computer for difficulties, such as viruses or malware. By making your program start with Windows, you can ensure that it is always running and can quickly detect and take action on any issues that arise.

Control other devices on your network. You can use your program to control other devices on your network, such as printers or media players. By making your program start with Windows, you can ensure that it is always running and can quickly control any devices that you need to.

In this way we have seen how to include programs in Windows 11 startup. Bye!

Windows 11 has been on the market for quite some time now. However, Microsoft has not yet finished settling many of its outstanding accounts. That is to say, it has not been able to turn it into a fascinating alternative for those who use Windows 10. Let us remember that this operating system did not get off to a good start either. However, in the end, it has become one of the best versions of Windows that Microsoft has launched.

The truth is that the image that has been generated around Windows 11 is not good. Although to be honest, in this case it is not just a question of image. In reality, this operating system has problems that have not yet been solved. We could say that it is clearly inferior to Windows 10 in certain aspects. This situation is aggravated by the controversial issue of updates. Let’s keep in mind that they continue to arrive loaded with bugs. In summary, we are in front of a not flattering perspective on Windows 11.

I know that many of you have doubts about whether it is really worth making the leap to Windows 11, especially now that it has received several updates and in theory is in a more mature state. In this article, I am going to give you six very clear reasons why it is better to continue with Windows 10. In fact, we will provide reasons that are based on a completely objective basis, and do not represent an opinion.

Windows 10 runs better than Windows 11 on less powerful hardware

It is a fact that Windows 10 is a very complete and perfectly functional operating system. In addition, it is also much less demanding than Windows 11 at the hardware level. This is clear from the moment we see the minimum requirements of each of these two operating systems. Even when we use them on computers that exceed these minimum requirements, the performance difference is great.

For example, a PC configured with 4 GB of RAM and a dual-core CPU and four threads offers a fairly good user experience with Windows 10, but we can not say the same if we install Windows 11, because as soon as the system starts almost all the RAM is occupied, and the performance is quite poor.

It is a fact that Windows 11 does not work well with 4 GB of RAM. On the other hand, even if we use Windows 11 on a computer configured with 8 GB of RAM, which is twice as much as the minimum requirements, the experience will not be fully satisfactory either. Moreover, the result will only be really acceptable for basic usage scenarios and minimal multitasking.

No doubt about it, Windows 11 is more demanding than Windows 10 at hardware level. In addition, it works worse with configurations, in which this last one usually moves quite well. If you have a modest PC, do not doubt it, it is better that you stay in Windows 10. In case you have a powerful PC and you are thinking about jumping to this operating system, continue reading, because you have reasons to think it a little more.

Windows 11 continues to give performance problems

This is also a fact. A couple of years ago, a major issue was confirmed that reduced the performance of Ryzen processors on Windows 11. Over time, similar issues have arisen that again reduced the performance of AMD’s Ryzen processors. They even affected other important components, such as the graphics card.

Microsoft has been unable to generate a scenario of confidence that encourages the user to make the leap to Windows 11. This is especially serious if we talk about those who use an AMD Ryzen processor. In r since they have been the most affected by these performance issues and these problems have been repeated on more than one occasion.

Microsoft has been unable to generate a scenario of confidence that encourages the user to make the leap to Windows 11. This is especially serious if we talk about those who use a Ryzen processor from AMD. These performance problems have repeatedly affected them the most on more than one occasion

It is a frustrating situation

It is not fair to have a powerful processor that far exceeds the requirements of Windows 11. And also meets the requirements of the games and applications we use, and see that it does not develop its full potential and performs less than it should. And all because Windows 11 has problems that should have already been fully resolved. To this we must add that, even when they seemed to have been overcome, these issues have returned.

In the end, the key is in that situation of insecurity that Windows 11 continues to generate, particularly with certain components. Fortunately, we will not encounter these problems in Windows 10. By this, I do not mean that the latter is a perfect and error-free operating system. However, the reality is that it does not give all the difficulties that we are seeing in Windows 11.

Windows 11 interface can be improved and has important shortcomings

This is a common reason for not upgrading to Windows 11. Moreover, it is a fact supported by multiple reports. Let’s think that doing simple things like creating a new folder is more complicated and time-consuming in Windows 11 than in Windows 10. The Windows 11 interface is less intuitive and the start menu is clearly inferior. This includes the design and functions. In addition, Microsoft has implemented counterproductive changes. Things that were very easy to do in Windows 10, now require more steps in Windows 11. The experience can become frustrating for less experienced users.

Let’s keep in mind that each user is a particular world. So not everyone has the ability to adapt and assimilate the new interface. Using this interface becomes even more complicated when it’s not as intuitive as the one in Windows 11

Windows 10 is a more reliable and more mature operating system

Certainly, the beginnings of Windows 10 were not easy. In fact, in its debut, it was quite criticized. Let’s remember that it was involved in the controversy of Microsoft’s “forced” free updates. In addition, users generally felt that Windows 7 was still the winner, precisely because of its maturity and stability.

The fact is that, over the years, Microsoft has released numerous updates that have significantly improved Windows 10, both in terms of interface and functions. In addition to security and stability. As a result, they ultimately shaped one of the best operating systems the company has released so far. Therefore, so far it remains one of the best options today.

Windows 10 is more stable, more mature, has fewer bugs. On the other hand, it is also an operating system that gets along well with older hardware. Finally, it is able to work optimally with configurations that are not compatible with Windows 11.

Windows 10 will continue to be supported until 2025

This point is also important, since Windows 10 still has more than two years of assured support. Consequently, you should not be in a hurry to upgrade to Windows 11. This operating system will receive its last updates in October 2025. Therefore, after that date it will be completely abandoned.

If you continue using Windows 10 after the end date of support, you will not have any problems in the short term. Most likely not even in the medium term. Although in the end it will be advisable that you start to consider upgrading to a more modern operating system that continues to receive support and security updates. Especially because the holes and security concerns will accumulate in Windows 10 over time, and will not be solved.

With this in mind, it is not a bad idea to wait another year or two for Windows 11 to finish maturing. This may end up saving us a lot of grief. In addition, it allows us to enjoy the operating system at another level, as long as Microsoft does its homework and polishes it properly during that period of time.

Windows 11 receives problematic updates

This is something that is not going to change in the short or medium term. If we look at the history of updates that Windows 11 has been receiving, we will realize that the problems have been practically a constant. In the end, Microsoft tends to release updates that do not seem to have gone through a strict enough testing process.

In the end, this results in the end user becoming just another beta tester. So in some cases there are serious bugs and errors that end up with Microsoft recommending the uninstallation of a particular update. This is not something new, and that has also happened with Windows 10. However, or right now, the situation has improved significantly with that operating system. In reality, Windows 11 has become Microsoft’s great unfinished business.

On the other hand, I remind you of the usual advice whether you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11. If possible, postpone them until you see what results they are giving in general. It is also good to evaluate the opinions of the users to see if they have really arrived in an acceptable state, or if the opposite has happened.

Windows 11 does not stand out for its customization capacity. In fact, neither Windows 10. For sure, you would like to be able to modify some of its components. While internal tools do not allow you to do so, third-party developers are of great help to leave the system to your liking. The user interface of Windows 11 is more attractive than that of Windows 10. However, not everyone likes it and in many areas it is not as effective as at first glance. There are sections to be finished. In addition, the customization section is still complicated to manage for more advanced tasks. Especially when we want to substantially vary its appearance or the behavior of its components. It also happens when accessing advanced functions that are not directly accessible in the interface. But there are solutions.

How to customize Windows 11

There is something for everyone. Especially for those more restless users who like to customize the appearance and operation of their operating system. We have applications available that are complete suites that allow you to touch absolutely everything. But there are also those that affect particular aspects such as the main interface, the Start menu, the taskbar, the icons, or the behavior of the system itself. We leave you with a selection of the ones we like the most. However, it is highly recommended to create restore points beforehand. Just in case something goes wrong, and you want to go back to the previous version of the system.

ThisIsWin11

A free and open source all-in-one. It is also really powerful. Indeed, it is not limited to customize visual elements, but offers settings for almost the entire system. It also modifies information about new features and comparisons with previous versions, and automates certain functions. It also improves privacy by managing telemetry and applications to reduce bloatware. Not only that, but it also includes a package manager, more useful and intuitive than Microsoft’s own WinGet. Its developer has announced that for the moment he will not update the version. But it still works perfectly with free download from GitHub.

Start11

One of the best for getting an awesome start menu, with four different styles. That of Windows 7 and Modern offer the traditional screen of two columns with all the applications. It also places favorites on the left and shortcuts to different functions and locations on the right. Windows 10 uses a familiar menu and tile combination. There is also a Windows 11 style, but with more features and flexibility than the official one. It is commercial software from Stardock and is priced at $5.99. However, but it is one of the best to use in alternative start menus. It has Trial version.

RoundedTB

Do you think that customizing the Windows 11 taskbar with its native settings is not enough? Well, it’s time to look for outside solutions. This one is one of the best. Indeed, since you can round the corners of the taskbar, divide it into segments and add margins. Another interesting feature is to make the taskbar act as a floating dock. It is available from the Microsoft Store and is free.

Winaero Tweaker

Another one of the best known and most complete applications to customize Windows. Its developer gathered most of the available options in an all-in-one tool and under a single interface. It has a huge amount of features to vary visual aspects. Indeed, we have colors; size of window borders, title bars and menus. There are also controls for the audio and general behavior of the system. Available for free from its web page.

Files App

Microsoft has updated the system file explorer. You may still not like it. Then there are third-party alternatives to replace it with. The one we propose is a powerful UWP file manager that features tabs for multitasking and tags for labeling. Plus, column layout, dual-pane layout and cloud drive detection. It also features file previews, custom themes and much more. Plus, it works with touchscreen or mouse and keyboard. It is more intuitive than the system default and can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store.

Lively Wallpaper

If you like to change your desktop wallpaper regularly, this is for you. Indeed, this tool allows you to change it easily and goes further. In fact, you can set GIFs, videos, and web pages as background. After adding the background, you can modify the brightness, speed, zoom, overlay color and more. Free in the Microsoft Store. And if you want something more complete, check out this special on really, really cool dark themes.

BeWidgets

Microsoft included Widgets as part of Windows 11. However, it can’t compare to what this tool offers. In fact, with it, you can place customizable and personalized widgets on your desktop. You can add different types of information, such as local weather, time, stocks, or application shortcuts. You can also hide official widgets from view. Available for free from the Microsoft Store.

Ultimate Windows Tweaker

Another of the most complete tools to customize Windows 11.

TweakNow PowerPack

Aimed at customizing the way Windows 11 behaves rather than the way it looks. In fact, this application is one of the most comprehensive you can find. It offers access to over 100 hidden Windows settings. It includes a registry cleaner, RAM optimizer and profiles for virtual desktops. Plus a revamped startup manager or the ability to allocate CPU resources for intensive applications. It is commercial software priced at $8.99. Undoubtedly, a good option for Windows 11 customization.

Windows 11 Classic Context Menu

The context menu in Windows 11 is quite annoying. When you right-click on an item, you no longer see the context menu you were used to in previous versions of Windows. Instead, you’ll see a new menu with rounded corners and fewer options. It can be customized, certainly. However, if you want an application to do the job for you, here is one to bring back the classic context menu.

Taskbar Tweaker

Another good customization application for the taskbar. It includes quite a lot of settings, many of them not even accessible by acting on the registry.

All of the above is a selection of the dozens of third-party applications available for Windows 11 customization. Create restore and test points beforehand to leave the system to your taste and needs.

Hello! With these tricks, you are going to make the Windows 11 desktop look much more minimalist than it currently does. If we are people who spend many hours at the computer, it is always appreciated that the desktop is not overly full of icons, documents, or folder. In fact, although we do not notice it at the time, it is something that ends up generating stress. Having an uncluttered main interface is very necessary in order not to fall into the mental disorder caused by the Windows desktop itself. You may not believe it, but this influences our behavior in front of the computer. Fortunately, Windows 11 has several very useful configurations. Some of them allow you to easily change the appearance of the desktop. In addition, we will be able to make it of much more minimalist and less stressful.

On the other hand, these are changes that are simpler than you might at first imagine. In addition, without the need to download any application or spend any money. In fact, it is enough to use what Microsoft’s own operating system offers. Let’s see what are those tricks and configurations that we can carry out so that our desktop has a minimalist look. But, firstly, we advise you to have the operating system fully updated.

How to have a more minimalist look in Windows 11

As mentioned above, we will not have to resort to third-party software or make any payment. With the same tools that Windows 11 provides, we will be able to give him a wash of face to the operating system.

Desktop Theme

The first thing to do is to choose a Windows desktop background and color scheme that is compatible with a minimalist design. Windows 11 will allow us to do this if we do the following:

Press Win + I and go to Windows Settings.

After that, we go to Personalization.

Then we go to Themes and choose a combination of wallpapers and colors from the suggested themes. Also, those that we will be able to obtain of the Microsoft Store that shows a sober design, without stridency and linear.

Next, we have the option to modify the wallpaper that comes with the theme we just applied. So you could make it even more minimalist:

Go to the Personalization tab of the Settings page as before.

Select Background.

We click on the drop-down menu next to Personalize your background and choose the preferred option.

If we really want to be completely minimalist, you should opt for Solid Color and select a dark shade.

Avoiding clutter

In many cases, the desktop is usually the destination of any file that needs to be saved or accessed quickly at a given moment. Therefore, it is likely to remain there for a long time and unused. If we have a lot of icons, folders, and files on the desktop, the best thing to do is to remove them (delete them or save them somewhere else). In this way, the desktop will be unoccupied or practically unoccupied.

However, we can be more radical. That is, quickly hide absolutely everything that is currently on our Windows 11 desktop:

Right-click on an empty space on your main desktop.

Select View and uncheck Show desktop icons.

Does this seem too radical to you? Then I propose another alternative. Another option is to place desktop icons in a single folder and make that the only visible element on the screen. This way, we will have a very minimalist desktop. However, also the icons and files that we had occupying everything at hand.

Hide the Recycle Bin.

If you have done the above, you will notice that the recycle bin icon, did not disappear. In addition, what we have in that folder where we have saved everything is a simple shortcut. Don’t worry, it can be hidden if we do the following:

Go to Settings, choose Personalization and go to Themes.

Then click on Desktop Icon Settings.

Now it only remains to uncheck the Recycle Bin and click on OK.

Customize the taskbar

To have a minimalist style, we must make sure that the taskbar also follows this concept. In this way, we will make sure that only the essential programs are present. Follow these steps to customize your taskbar:

Right-click on the taskbar and click on Taskbar Settings.

If we don’t use them (which is normal) you should turn off both Chat and Task View, and even Widgets.

Expand the Other system tray icons section and disable any icons you don’t use frequently so that they don’t appear in the taskbar and are as minimalist as possible.

We expand Taskbar Behaviors and configure the taskbar to our liking, always making the minimalist prevail.

Modify start menu

After modifying everything we have done, the only thing left to do is to try to make the start menu more minimalist. We are going to do it in the following way:

We click on the Start menu button, and then we click with the right button in some zone of this one where there is nothing.

Click on Start Settings.

In Personalization, we select More pins, since it is the most simplified option available.

While modifying the configuration of the Start menu, we can deactivate the unnecessary options, like Show recently added applications or Show most used applications, although we make clear that this is to each one’s choice.

The next time we open the Start menu, we must right-click on any icon that we do not want to appear. As a result, we will be able to unpin them from the launcher so that only the most necessary ones appear immediately.

We are going to explain what the SuperFetch function is and what it is used for, which you can find in Windows 11. It is a system that is always on by default. What it does is to use the RAM memory that you are not using with your applications to preload other programs in case you are going to use them. We are going to try to give you a clear explanation about this mode so that you understand the benefits it has. Remember that in the end, it is only using RAM memory that you are not using at the moment. But just in case, we will also explain at the end the method to disable it. However, it is not advisable to do so.

What is SuperFetch

SuperFetch is not a new mode. In fact, it’s a feature that has been in Microsoft’s operating system since Windows Vista. What it does is try to improve your experience by preloading applications that you use often. This way, when you open them, they take less time to load. For that, it first analyzes your RAM usage patterns in the background. And with this, Windows is able to learn which applications and programs you use the most in your daily life.

Knowing this, SuperFetch uses the RAM memory that is in disuse to preload the applications that you use the most but have not yet opened in RAM memory. It is as if it were opening them in advance. So when you decide to open them, they are already loaded and everything goes much faster.

All this is done only with the RAM memory that you are not using. The applications you open on your computer are loaded into RAM. However, you are not always going to be using all the memory installed on your PC. Consequently, Windows tries to make better use of the excess. With this, as soon as your operating system needs to use more RAM to load other applications, the tool dispenses with the necessary memory. In this way, it does not hinder the correct functioning of the system.

Because of this, SuperFetch is a feature that you will never notice and that will not bother you in your day-to-day life. It will generally never cause your computer to slow down. If it does, it will only last for a few seconds. In return, your PC’s performance will improve overall.

What SuperFetch is for

SuperFetch is used to make the applications you use the most load faster. We all get annoyed that if we use an application a lot, when we turn on the computer and open this application, it takes too many seconds to load. This is why the Windows function automatically preloads the most used applications in RAM. As a result, when you open them, they load much faster.

It’s not something that will bother you. In fact, this is not the same as when applications like Chrome consume too much RAM and everything slows down. And that’s because SuperFetch takes care of monitoring your RAM consumption. Therefore, when you are going to need that you had left over and is using, it can release it so you do not notice that it was being used behind.

The only downside is that this feature will cause your CPU and RAM to be constantly working. If your computer is very underpowered or has very little RAM, disabling it might speed up its performance. But only in specific cases. It can also cause some occasional problems when playing games if your computer has less than 4 GB of RAM. On the other hand, it can also make the CPU work a little too hard when it restarts while loading programs in RAM.

However, if you have a computer that is too slow, then it is not recommended that you start by disabling SuperFetch. In fact, there are less useful and more consuming things that you can disable first. However, it is a feature that you can disable whenever you want, although the option is a bit hidden.

How to disable SuperFetch

To disable SuperFetch mode, you have to open the Start menu and type Services. When you find this application, you have to launch it.

Once inside, look for the SysMain option and click on it to select it. When you do so, you will see two options on the left side, and you have to click on the Stop option to stop it.

When you do so, right-click on the SysMain option and click on the Properties option in the context menu.

And when you enter in its properties, click in the General tab, and in it click in the drop-down list Startup type and choose Disabled among the options that will be opened. Now all you have to do is click on OK to apply the changes.

Another way to disable it

To disable Superfetch in Windows 11 simply open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and select Services from the menu at top left corner. Scroll down until you find Superfetch” service listed here and double click it. In Properties window set Startup type as Disabled, Apply changes then restart computer. Once done, you will no longer have Superfetch running automatically every time windows starts, but still manually start whenever needed without any issue with other services/apps installed in PC/Laptop.

To make an informed decision, understand how Windows 11 SuperFetch works. Disabling it won’t affect OS functioning or existing apps. You can be assured of a smooth experience regardless of your choice. So, enable or disable SuperFetch based on your specific needs. Bye!

We are going to explain what it is and how to find the Windows 11 Startup folder. Actually, it is not only one but two folders in different places. These are folders that will give you control over the applications or programs that run at startup when you start Windows. Let’s start by explaining exactly what these folders do. Also, why there are two of them and what each one is for. Then, we will also go on to tell you how you can enter them to use them.

What is the Windows Startup folder

The Windows 11 Startup folder is a folder in which you can add applications. Its particularity is that the programs you add will start together with the operating system. This means that when you turn on or restart the computer, these applications in the folder will run automatically.

So, if you want a particular program or application to start automatically when you turn on your computer, then you just need to add its shortcut to the Startup folder. It is quite easy once you know where to find it. However, there is something you should keep in mind. The more applications you add, the slower the computer will start. In fact, launching these applications becomes one of the Windows startup steps. Therefore, abusing this folder can be bad and make it run slow.

Some applications that you install may be automatically added to this folder without your permission. Hence, the normal thing to do is to go to the task manager to prevent apps from starting with Windows. However, what you are going to do with Windows startup folders is the reverse process. That is to say, to make a program run automatically when the operating system starts.

On Windows, you can find two different Startup folders. Moreover, both are hidden and in different locations on the system. One of them is for configuring the applications that start at logon with a specific user. The other one is for the ones that will start at general startup with any user.

This will give you more flexibility in case you share a computer with other people. In fact, you have the possibility that your decisions to add applications at startup will not impact Windows performance when logged on with another user.

How to Find Windows Startup Folders

To find the Windows Startup folders, the first step is to go to the file explorer and view the hidden files, which are hidden by default. To do this, open the file explorer and in the top bar click on the View menu. A menu will open in which you have to click on Show, and once inside click on Hidden items.

Once you can see the hidden items, you can navigate to the Windows Startup folders. There are two different folders, and you can enter both from the file explorer and the application launcher that appears when you press the keys Windows + R. It is the window where it says Run.

User’s startup folder: In the file explorer, you have to go to: C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. You can also press Windows + R, and in the Run box type shell:startup.

General startup folder: In file explorer, you have to go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp. You can also press Windows + R, and in the Run box type shell:common startup.

And now, you can add shortcuts to the Home folder you have chosen. To do this, right-click on the folder and select the Shortcut option to select the application you want to add.

You can also find the .exe file of the program or application and drag it into the startup folder with the right mouse button pressed instead of the left mouse button. This will open a menu with the option to create the shortcut.

Conclusion

Windows 11 startup folder is an essential feature that allows you to manage your startup programs and applications. It’s important to know that there are two hidden folders that you can access to manage your startup programs. By following the steps mentioned in this post, you can easily access these folders and manage your startup programs with ease.

Hello! If you want to manage networks and connect to Wi-Fi on Windows, let’s explain everything you need to know. We will try to cover different topics. In effect, we will see how to configure the system to stop searching for networks. Although, we will also learn how to share the signal with other devices and that they can connect to the Internet without problems. The idea is to show you step by step all you have to do. Please remember that you can use the system configuration itself, without having to install anything additional. However, you can also use free apps to help you better manage your wireless networks. Finally, the goal is to get good coverage and make everything work properly. That is, without appearing the feared cuts when browsing or using some application. Read on to learn how to manage Wi-Fi networks in Windows 11.

How to configure Windows not to scan for Wi-Fi

By default, Windows is configured to constantly scan for Wi-Fi connections. This is certainly handy. However, you may wish to do without it, in order to extend battery life. Or to save resources. Well, let’s see how to do it. It is a very simple procedure and for which we will not have to install any additional plugins. We are only going to use the operating system’s own configuration.

The first thing we are going to do is to go to Start, look for services and access. There we will see a large list of operating system services that we will be able to modify. All of them will be configured as they come when installing the OS, unless we have made some change. We can also access simply with the key combination Windows+R and execute services.msc.

When you are at this point, look for the WLAN Auto Config service. We have to click with the right button of the mouse and click on Stop. Then go to Properties and under Startup type, which will be marked as Automatic, change it to Manual.

Once this is done, we simply have to click on Apply and we will accept the changes. From this moment on, Windows will not be searching for Wi-Fi networks automatically. We must also restart the computer for the changes to take effect correctly.

You should know that this change is totally reversible. Consequently, it is possible to return to the previous scenario. That is, Windows will automatically search for networks again. Consequently, we only have to follow the steps that we have explained again. Only this time, we switch back to Automatic. Press OK, restart the computer, and that’s it.

How to prevent Windows from connecting to a specific network

After having explained what we can do to prevent Windows from automatically searching for Wi-Fi networks, we are now going to focus on preventing it from connecting to a specific network. It is possible that we do not want it to automatically access a Wi-Fi to which we have previously connected. Even to an access point we have at home. This can also be done easily. It can be interesting for the same reasons as mentioned above. It is especially useful for not connecting only to a certain network that has a weak signal.

Windows configuration

If at some point we connect to a network, and now we do not want it to connect automatically, we can avoid it. To do this, we have to follow these steps. First, go to Start and then go to Windows Settings. Then we go to Network and Internet, click on Wi-Fi and access Manage known networks.

A list of all the wireless networks to which we have ever connected will be displayed. It does not matter if they are open networks or have passwords. What Windows does is to store this information to connect quickly as soon as it detects it. It is interesting to save time, but sometimes we may not want this.

What we need to do is to find the network we do not want to connect to. It can be a Wi-Fi repeater, for example. We click on the name, and we will see a small box where we will see the Forget button.

By simply performing this step, Windows will automatically stop connecting to that wireless network. It will delete all stored information. In addition, this also includes the password. If in the future, we want to connect again, we will have to click on Connect and manually enter the password.

Therefore, following these steps, we can also prevent Windows from automatically connecting to a specific network. It is an alternative if we do not want that it stops looking for networks constantly, but we are not interested that it can connect to a certain network. It is a simple and fast process. In addition, we can easily revert reverse it easily if in a given moment we are interested that it returns to connect.

How to do it from the command prompt.

We can also do this using commands. Moreover, in this case, it would be valid both for networks we are connected to now and for those we are not connected to. In short, it is valid for any network that we have saved. An important issue is that to execute these commands, it is mandatory to do it as an administrator. To do so, type and select Run as administrator. Also, by clicking on Command Prompt with the right mouse button, this option appears.

Now we are going to use a command to view the profiles of the saved Wi-Fi networks. With this in mind, we will use netsh with the following parameters:

netsh wlan show profiles

In case we want to prevent Windows from automatically connecting to a Wi-Fi network, we will have to use this other command:

netsh wlan set profileparameter name=network name connectionmode=manual

Here, what we have to do is to replace Network Name with the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to modify. This would be the command in which our Wi-Fi network profile has been executed correctly, so that from now on the connection is made manually.

Instead, this would be the command syntax if we want that Wi-Fi network to start automatically:

netsh wlan set profileparameter name=network name connectionmode=auto

This is the example of the execution to have an automatic connection:

In the hypothetical case that we do not know if we have the Wi-Fi connection on automatic or manual, we would use this other command:

netsh wlan show profile network name

These are the results we would get if that Wi-Fi network has automatic connection:

Very well, this way we begin to see how to manage the Wi-Fi connections with Windows 11. Bye!
