Hello! In this post, we will show you all the folder options that are in Windows 11. Thanks to these folder options, we will be able to personalize even more Windows 11. If you are interested in changing all the folder options in Microsoft’s latest operating system, then this post is for you.

What are the folder options in the Windows 11 operating system?

Folder options are settings that we can make when interacting with the Windows 11 file explorer. Additionally, they allow us to configure different options for all our folders. Some of these configurations are: hidden files, how we will click, privacy, folder views, locations, among other configurations.

However, before delving into the folder options, it is necessary to define a fundamental element. We are talking about the Windows 11 file explorer. In fact, it is an element that is linked to the folder options.

What is Windows 11 file explorer?

Windows 11 Explorer is the place where we can access a large part of our computer. In fact, it displays search engines, folders and other options that facilitate the search for applications, programs, or files. Windows 11 facilitates access to this element of your system. In fact, its use is so frequent, that the corresponding icon is pinned to the taskbar by default. Consequently, you just need to click on the folder-shaped icon to access it. You can also search for it from the start menu. Alternatively, you can also press the Win+E combination.

Once inside the Windows 11 file explorer, there are different classifications. In the window, at the top we find the toolbar. Just below the toolbar we find the browsing history and the quick access browser. We also find an option called Folders. In this option we will find all the main folders which are: Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Images, Music and Videos. Below folders, we find the files that we have used recently.

Windows 11 File Explorer

This is a simple explanation of what the Windows 11 file explorer is. We also saw how it works. Okay, now we will explain all the folder options in Windows 11.

Folder options in the Windows 11 operating system

The folder options help us to further customize our folders. With this intention, we must access to some specific options. Consequently, you have to access the file explorer. As mentioned above, just click on the folder icon in the taskbar. Once there, it is necessary to access the toolbar. With this in mind, please click on the 3 dots icon located in the upper-right corner. When doing so, a menu will be displayed and the last option is called Options. We enter by clicking on this last one.

A small window will immediately pop up. This window allows you to introduce changes to the folders. Additionally, there are three tabs: General, View and Search. We will go through them one by one.

General folder options in Windows 11

In this tab, there are different options. First, we see Open File Explorer to. This option allows us to choose where we want to open the file explorer, whether in Quick Access or in This PC in a drop-down menu that is next to it. Below the option that we have just seen, we have a Browse folders option. This option allows us to open all the folders in a single window or, on the contrary, if we want the folders to open in different windows.

Continuing with the other options, below is an option called Click items as follows. This option allows us to make changes in the way we open the folders. If only with a mouse click on the folder it opens, or by double-clicking to open it. The last option is the privacy options. With these settings, we can enable or disable the display of recently used files in the shortcut. In the same way also, it serves to activate or deactivate the folders used more frequently in the shortcut.

Within the privacy options, we also find the option to delete the entire file explorer history on our computer. In case you have made changes and want to revert them, you can click on Restore Default. That is to say, leave everything as it was at the beginning. Additionally, after you have completed the changes, you can click on OK to set the changes.

View folder options in Windows 11

The next tab corresponds to the View settings. From there, we can change the folder views or advanced settings. In the folder views it is possible to include details or icons to all folders. To achieve this, on the left side it shows a folder as an example. Additionally, you can also apply these changes to all folders or reset it.

Scrolling down to the bottom, there are the advanced view settings. Accordingly, we can activate or deactivate functions. Let’s take a look at some of them:

Open folder windows independently

Type automatically

Select in the search box or in the show status bar

Show other colors for NTFS files

Display preview drivers

Show description

Show file icon

View size information

Show full path

Show drive letters

Display provider notifications

view menus

Hide files that are protected

Hide folder merge conflicts

show icons.

Hide file extensions.

Hide empty drives.

Other options include being able to reduce spacing between items, restore folder windows on login, use the sharing wizard and use the checkboxes to select items. Below these settings, there are the ones corresponding to the Navigation Panel. From there, you can configure options such as:

Show libraries

Expand to open folder

Show this PC

Show network

Always show availability status

Show all folders

In the same way, we have a button for Restore Default.

Search folder options in Windows 11

The last tab corresponds to the Search settings. The first option corresponds to the type of search. That is, a, we can not use the index when searching for system files in archive folders. If so, the search may take longer. There are also other settings we can make when searching in non-indexed locations. For example, include system directories, compressed files or always search on file names and file contents.

In this way we have explored all the folder options of Windows 11. As you could see, it is another way to customize more the aspect of the system. Besides knowing more about how the system works. Bye!

Hello! Windows 11 has recently arrived. Moreover, it was accompanied by important visual changes. Indeed, it is one of the main features of the version change. Moreover, these visual changes become the flagship of the system. In essence, the heart of the system has not changed much. It is even expected that the new features will also reach Windows 10. Personally, I love the look of my system. So if you are like me, this post is for you. In fact, Windows 11 has several customization options. Beyond changing the background or the mode from dark to light, there are many things you can adjust to make the system look more to your liking. Even without having to install anything additional. Stay with us to learn how to customize Windows 11 to the maximum.

How to use custom themes

One of the coolest things about Windows 11 is that it comes with several themes. Furthermore, these vary between light and dark. Each theme even comes with its wallpapers. There is a difference with the themes of previous versions of Windows. Indeed, in Windows 11 they also change the color palette of the windows and menus.

Let’s see how to access this section. The first thing you have to do is to press the Win+I combination to go to Windows Settings. Once there, just click on Personalization.

Windows Settings>Personalization

Next, you have to click on Themes.

Themes in Windows 11

Once there, there are several options to choose from locally. You can also click on Browse Themes and go directly to the Microsoft Store to download additional themes. However, currently these themes only offer changing wallpapers and not color schemes. Nevertheless, this is still something you can adjust individually for each theme. An elegant way to customize Windows 11

Playing with interface colors

In fact, just go back to the previous screen and click on Colors. In fact, just go back to the previous screen and click on Colors. From there, you can change multiple options related to either dark or light mode. You can also adjust the transparency and color accent effects.

Customizing Windows 11 colors

In fact, it is possible to choose that the theme is always in dark mode. It is also possible to use a custom mode so that the default Windows mode is dark, but the applications open in light mode. In this case, we will see a dark taskbar and start menu, but apps such as Explorer will open in light mode. We can also make the emphasis color automatic and adjust it depending on the colors of your wallpaper. Windows 11 is more intuitive in this aspect than Windows 10. Therefore, the result is very cool if you combine it with the transparency effects.

Configuring the lock screen.

The Windows 11 lock screen has also gained some additional customization options. Certainly, there are the same functions as in Windows 10. For example, we can customize the image we use. It is also possible to choose whether you want a single static one to your liking, a slideshow with several from the same folder, or the Windows Featured Content that takes images from Bing. However, there is another very fascinating option. This is Lock Screen Status. This option allows you to choose an application to display on the screen. By default, the calendar is shown, but you can change it to Weather, Mail, 3D Viewer, or the Xbox console companion.

Personalizing the Windows 11 lock screen

It is also possible to display some additional data. For example, displaying fun facts, recommendations, and tips on the lock screen. We can even determine that the background image is also displayed on the login screen. That is, when you enter your password to log into Windows.

Giving a personal touch to the Start Menu

The Start menu has also undergone a drastic change with Windows 11. However, it still allows you to change some things. For example, you can drag and drop the icons you see docked and move them to the place you want. In the same way, the right mouse click is the protagonist. In fact, with this action, we can undock them from the startup or even uninstall the app directly from there. It is also possible to use the Move to top option. In this way, the icon will become the first in the list.

Customizing the icons in the start menu

There is another useful option, but somewhat difficult to obtain. We are talking about the possibility of adding folders to the start menu. By default, only your username, Settings button and the Power button appear. However, you can add items such as Documents, Music, Downloads folders. Just go to the route: Windows Settings>Personalization>Start>Folders. There you can choose all the folders that appear in Start next to the power button.

It is also possible to configure additional options for the Start Menu. We can configure to show the recently added apps, the most used apps and the recently used apps.

Taskbar

The taskbar has also evolved a lot in Windows 11. Unlike previous versions, you always have to go to settings to customize it. Positively, we will get some options, although they are still fewer than before. Follow this path: Windows Settings>Personalization>Taskbar. Once there, there is the possibility to deactivate icons that are active by default: Search, Task view, Widgets, Chat.

Taskbar customization options in Windows 11

There is an option called Taskbar corner overflow. From there, you can choose which applications will always display their icons in the notification area next to the clock and date. This allows you to keep it more organized and efficient.

In the taskbar behavior, you can choose the alignment of the taskbar. That is, you can keep it in the center or send it to the left, as it was in Windows 10. You can also choose to hide it automatically and other options. Undoubtedly the taskbar allows you to customize Windows 11

Mouse pointer

Another option that can be configured is the mouse pointer aspect. With this intention, follow the following path: Windows Settings>Accessibility>Mouse pointer and touch. You can switch between high contrast options, or choose a custom color. By default, Windows offers very bright colors. However, you can choose any color you want. You can also adjust its size and make it larger or smaller.

Customizing the appearance of the mouse pointer

Similarly, we can also customize the text cursor. This is the indicator that always blinks next to a line of text. Occasionally, it is difficult to see it well. It is possible to modify its size, color, and thickness. It is even possible to add a floating indicator at the top and bottom.

Ultimately, we have seen how to customize Windows 11 to the maximum. See you soon!

The useful first steps after installing Windows 11

Make sure you have all the applications

The first thing you need to do is to make sure you have all the applications you need. If you got to Windows 11 as an upgrade, then you should keep all the applications. However, it is advisable to click on the Start menu and then click on All apps to check.

Showing all applications in the Windows 11 Start menu

You may also have done an installation from scratch. In that case, we recommend you to check the new store. You will see that it has changed quite a lot compared to Windows 10. Indeed, you will see many new applications, although most of them will be progressive web applications. It is always advisable to check if there are interesting new options. In short, it is the first thing you have to do after installing Windows 11.

Organize the new start menu

One of the things that has changed in Windows 11 is the start menu. Indeed, goodbye to the tiles and back to a reduced size. In addition, it works through applications that you can pin to it. So, a good first step is to spend some time with it. This way, you can configure it to your liking by adding and removing pinned applications. To start, right-click on the apps you want to avoid being displayed. Then select the Unpin from Start option. As a result, the app will remain installed, but will not appear in the startup menu.

Unpin an app from the start menu.

It is also possible to pin an application to the start menu. For this purpose, type the name, select All applications option. When you get it, right-click the mouse and then select the option Pin to Start. After you have them there, you can drag and drop them to your preferred location. Below the pinned applications, there is a Recommendations’ section that you can customize. To complete this, go to Windows Settings. From there, go to Personalization and then to Startup. In this section, you can disable the items that you do not want to appear.

Personalizing the start menu

In this window, there is also a Folders section. Once there, you can activate shortcuts that appear next to the shutdown button. These will behave as shortcuts to some key folders on the computer.

Pin applications to the taskbar

When you open an application or program, its icon appears in the taskbar. We can also add applications to the taskbar so that the icon remains, even if we are not using it. This element, together with the centered start menu, is slightly reminiscent of macOS. What you have to do is to open any application. When the icon appears on the taskbar, right-click it and choose the Pin to taskbar option.

Change the default applications

Windows 11 has complicated the default application system. You can no longer set an application for a certain function. For example, use a special app for videos or for surfing the internet. Instead, for each file format, you have to assign an application. Consequently, you will have to manually configure AVI, MP4, MKV files, instead of simply all videos. And that’s how it works with all of them. To change the default video player or other default app, you have to go to Windows Settings. Once there, go to Apps. Then look for the Default Apps option. Finally, select the type of file you want to open with the application.

Controls the split-screen system

The Windows 11 split screen system has changed a lot compared to Windows 10. Indeed, it has different split-screen configurations. This depends on whether you want to view two, three or four applications on a single screen. Just hover the mouse pointer over the maximize button on the top bar of any app. Immediately, the different layouts will be displayed. Then, you just have to click on the part you want within a layout to place the application you are in there. Then, the wizard will invite you to fill the other layouts with other open applications.

New split screen system in Windows 11

Manages the notification system

There are also changes in the notifications of Windows 11. Indeed, they now appear when you click on the clock and calendar in the taskbar. In addition, they are displayed on top of the calendar.
