The new icons for Windows 10 have been made available for the Insiders. However, for the rest of the users they are already starting to be displayed. Therefore, you might enjoy these icons in a few days

These new icons are a change of look for the operating system. They are more colorful, expressive and visual. However, we must remember that the arrival of the icons will be progressive. They can be displayed in the start menu and in the task bar. Also in the welcome screen.

Users relate the icons to tasks and applications, due to the daily use. Therefore, the company maintains that adding color and expressiveness facilitates the cognitive task. This helps users to find apps visually and reduce search time.

The Microsoft design team wants to make users feel that the icons belong to the real world. This is why they made them more familiar and accessible. So they chose to introduce depth and color. They also rounded off the corners. These subtle changes make them similar to the icons in Android and iOS. Because they are part of people’s everyday lives.

With this icon update, the company wants to make them more identifiable, modern and fluid within the operating system. Given that since 2015 their design was not renewed. In fact, there will be certain icons that are very similar to the previous ones, but there are others that do represent an important change.

Problems with the new Windows 10 icons

Some users who have tested the update indicate a problem with the icons and the colour of the start menu. The new icons do not match the menu color. The previous monochrome icons did. People who have tested them recommend changing the background image. If not, adjust the Windows color/theme.

If you want to have the new Windows 10 icons already, just go to operating system options. Then click on update and security, and select “check for updates”. This will install the latest one. If your computer qualifies, you can probably get the latest update with the new Windows 10 icons. We’re still surprised by these new features.
Recently Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 update but only for testers. This new update is presented under the title of Windows 10 19564. In addition, is loaded with new features and fixes of major and minor bugs. In this post, we will tell you the main news before it is available to all users. So we’ll see how this version of Windows 10 for testers includes a new calendar app and other news.

Windows 10 19564 features

As with every new version of Windows, on a technical level, the improvements are always bug fixes. However, they always add new features aimed at making the system more robust and better.

A new Calendar App

This new version stands out for having a new Calendar application. This application has been prepared for a long time and is considered stable enough to be incorporated into a new Windows build. This new application comes with several important features such as this calendar application has 30 built-in themes. That is, you can customize it to your liking. It includes a new improved monthly view. This makes you see the events of that month better. Adding events is now easier because the process has been simplified. This should make the application much more productive. This new application can be activated by going to the calendar application and selecting the Try the preview option.

A preview on the new calendar app

Graphics Settings Improvements

The graphic options have also been improved. You can now choose which applications run on which GPUs. This option is especially interesting for computers with multiple GPUs, for example, laptops with intel + Nvidia graphics.

This is what the new graphics options in Windows 10 will look like.

These options will be located in Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings. Also on that same screen, you’ll see a text field that filters the applications to better find them.

Other new features

As I have already mentioned, there are many new features in this new build, but other less outstanding are:

This build reduced TLS usage in certain shell components. Then, you will notice a lower memory consumption on certain occasions

Also, the Japanese IME has been updated.

Fixed an issue with wallpaper transitions on Build 19536.

And many more. This version should reach the stable channel of Windows 10 in a few weeks, so be patient. For a complete list of what’s new, you can read Microsoft’s announcement. Finally, we have seen how this version of Windows 10 for testers includes a new calendar app. Okay, that’s it for now. For more news on Windows 10, stay tuned. Before I say goodbye I invite you to see our post about downloading apps from the store without using a Microsoft account. Goodbye.
