How to install Shizuku

Shizuku is a tool that app developers can use to access certain system APIs more easily. In some cases, it serves as an alternative to Root Access, if the only reason such application required Root was to obtain ADB permissions. If you like to experiment with your phone, you may have already come across an application that requires Shizuku to work, usually as an alternative to Root Access. This is because Shizuku can grant some permissions and is more focused on ADB. Unlike Root Access, which gives you super user permissions and allows you to modify the system practically without limits. The problem with Root is that it compromises Safety Net and device security. At the moment there are not too many apps that require Shizuku, although its popularity is growing as it is much simpler and lighter than having full Root Access.

Shizuku needs to connect to your phone via ADB, and this is much easier to do from Android 11 onwards, with a code for wireless ADB pairing. In case you have a lower version it will be necessary to use USB debugging to be able to use Shizuku.

First step

Activate the phone’s Developer Options, to enable it you must go to Settings>About phone then tap five times on “Build number” until you get a message that you are already a developer.

After that, open the app and scroll through its interface until you get to the “Start via Wireless debugging” section. Press Pairing, which will open a permanent notification from Shizuku, which you will need to use later to enter the pairing code.

Fourth step

Then open Developer Options and under the “Debugging” section turn on “USB Debugging” and “Wireless Debugging”, then tap on “Wireless Debugging” and next, tap on “Pair device with sync code”, which will show you a six-digit numeric code. With the code on the screen, pull down the mobile notifications and tap on the Shizuku notification, to which you can reply with the sync code you just read.

Fifth step

To finish, the only thing left to do is to tap “Start” in the Shizuku window. A window will show you the commands with the process, but you can see the result summarized more easily in the main window of the app, at the top of the screen. If Shizuku is active, everything went well.

What is Root Access?

Rooting, root, or superuser on Android devices is the process that allows users to gain privileged control, in which they can modify certain functions that come by default in Android devices. Because Android uses the Linux kernel, rooting an Android device gives similar access to administrative (super-user) permissions as in Linux or any other Unix-like operating system such as FreeBSD or macOS.

VMOS: Virtual Machine Operating System

As its name suggests, with this app you can virtualize an Android version into Android. This version of Android includes Root Access so you can run applications in this environment, without compromising the warranty and integrity of your device.

The minimum requirements are:

• 2GB of RAM
• 32GB of Storage
• Android 5.1 or higher

Remember that virtualizing another operating system requires a lot of resources, so we recommend you using mid-range devices. The more powerful your device is, the better your experience will be.

Installing VMOS

First step

To download VMOS you can do it from the following link on their website by pressing the VMOS download button. I recommend you do it directly from Google Chrome on your device to make easier the process.

Second step

Installing the apk file: From Google Chrome, open the apk file, then Chrome will notify you that you don’t have enough permissions, after that, press “settings” and then “Allow from this source“. Now go back and the installation wizard will appear, finally, press install.

Third Step

To be able to start VMOS you need to have VMOS Unlocker installed. This app looks like a calculator. This is a verification method included by the VMOS team to avoid plagiarism. Remember to always have the latest version installed.

Now download the apk file from the following link below:

After that press Download Latest apk. Then from Google Chrome, open the apk file, the installation wizard will appear, finally, press install.

Fourth step

Setting up VMOS

Open VMOS and slide to the right until you see the Enter VMOS button then press it to start.

After that, VMOS will ask you to enable some permissions. To enable the floating window mode press the On button, you will be redirected to the configuration then press Allow display over other apps.

Come back, again VMOS will ask you more permissions for storage, location, and microphone. Then press To authorize, also press Allow for each one.

After that VMOS will start to install the ROM and then it will boot, this process can take a few minutes.

Fifth Step

Activating Root Access

From the main screen press the Settings icon, then press Root, then press Enable root.

After that VMOS will notify you that you must watch an Ad video to continue, press watch now. Finally press Restart Now. And that’s it, you have Root Access on your device.

Test

You can install Root checker to check the status of the Root Access. You can also do this with any app that needs Root Access.

Conclusion

Years ago we would never have thought that this would be possible due to the limitations of the hardware. But virtualizing Android on an Android device is now possible, plus we have a Root environment where we can perform different operations without any damage to our device.
