<p>Hi! We use the computer for multiple daily tasks. Indeed, from study, work, leisure, development and more. More and more time we spend using Windows. In addition, this system is usually very stable at the beginning of use. However, as time goes by, it can fail. Or even by user intervention or third parties can be damaged. Fortunately, the system itself provides tools to make backups in case something goes wrong. For example, we have seen how to create and restore a <a href="https://www.osradar.com/how-to-create-and-restore-a-system-image-backup-on-windows-10/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">system image</a>. However, today we will see a different approach. Indeed, in this post we will detail how to activate and use system restore in <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10.</a></p>

<h2>How to activate system restore in Windows 10.</h2>

<p>System Restore is a Windows feature that helps you undo changes made to a computer&#8217;s operating system files. The process attempts to return the computer to a configuration at a previous point in time. This is called a restore point. So it is a means of returning the system to a point in time when everything was working correctly. So this method serves as a means of rescue. Now, this function is disabled by default in Windows 10. With this in mind, press the Win+X combination and then click on <strong>System.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="271" height="613" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore.png" alt="Please select system. " class="wp-image-25005" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore.png 271w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore-133x300.png 133w" sizes="(max-width: 271px) 100vw, 271px" /><figcaption>Please select system.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Once there, please click on <strong>System Protection.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2-1024x787.jpg" alt="Please click on System Protection. " class="wp-image-25007" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2-1024x787.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2-300x231.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2-768x590.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2-696x535.jpg 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2-1068x821.jpg 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore2.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Please click on System Protection.</figcaption></figure>

<p>In the next window, click on the System Protection tab. Then click on the partition where the system is installed. Finally, click on <strong>Configure.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="412" height="468" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore3.png" alt="Please click on Configuration" class="wp-image-25009" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore3.png 412w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore3-264x300.png 264w" sizes="(max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px" /><figcaption>Please click on Configuration</figcaption></figure>

<p>Then you must turn on the system protection. You can also set the assigned disk size for the restore points. Finally, press OK to continue.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="407" height="466" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore4.png" alt="Activating the system protection. " class="wp-image-25011" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore4.png 407w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/restore4-262x300.png 262w" sizes="(max-width: 407px) 100vw, 407px" /><figcaption>Activating the system protection.</figcaption></figure>
