<p>Hello! Surely more than once you have needed to take a screenshot. Either for leisure or for work needs. Therefore, you have probably resorted to third-party <a href="https://www.osradar.com/best-free-screenshot-tools-for-windows/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">options</a>. However, Windows 10 has its own tool for taking screenshots. Besides being simple to use, it integrates seamlessly with the operating system. Stay with us to learn how to take a screenshot in Windows 10.</p>

<h2>Using Snip &amp; Sketch to take a screenshot in Windows 10.</h2>

<p>As mentioned, Windows has its own dedicated app for managing screenshots. We are talking about Snip &amp; Sketch. And as mentioned, it should be installed on your system. If for some reason you have uninstalled it, then you can download it for free from <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/recorte-y-boceto/9mz95kl8mr0l?ranMID=46133&amp;ranEAID=uX9G0lYjaAY&amp;ranSiteID=uX9G0lYjaAY-yJOF7a7pgafrUlbWgh2EPg&amp;epi=uX9G0lYjaAY-yJOF7a7pgafrUlbWgh2EPg&amp;irgwc=1&amp;OCID=AID2000142_aff_7791_1243925&amp;tduid=(ir__thfuzkglqgkfqkdckk0sohzlw32xpccam2agg29p00)(7791)(1243925)(uX9G0lYjaAY-yJOF7a7pgafrUlbWgh2EPg)()&amp;irclickid=_thfuzkglqgkfqkdckk0sohzlw32xpccam2agg29p00&amp;source=lp&amp;activetab=pivot:overviewtab" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here.</a> To start using it, just enter Snip in the search bar.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="787" height="679" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen.png" alt="Opening the application Snip &amp; Sketch" class="wp-image-29273" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen.png 787w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen-300x259.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen-768x663.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen-696x600.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px" /><figcaption>Opening the application Snip &amp; Sketch</figcaption></figure>

<p>After opening the app, just click on the <strong>New </strong>button. A toolbox with 5 controls will be displayed immediately. The first one is used to capture a frame of the screen, the second one to capture a freeform shape and the third one to capture the whole screen. Finally, the x is used to exit the app. Although pressing the Escape key we can also do it.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="883" height="387" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2.jpg" alt="Snip &amp; Sketch Controls" class="wp-image-29274" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2.jpg 883w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2-300x131.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2-768x337.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2-696x305.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 883px) 100vw, 883px" /><figcaption>Snip &amp; Sketch Controls</figcaption></figure>

<p>It is also possible to make the screenshot immediately or after a few seconds. Once the area is selected, the image will be saved to the clipboard, ready to be pasted into another application. But it will also open an easy way to edit the image within the app. It allows you to make annotations or add colored lines.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="819" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-1024x819.png" alt="Editing the screenshot with Snip &amp; Sketch." class="wp-image-29275" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-1024x819.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-300x240.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-768x614.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-696x557.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-1068x854.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Editing the screenshot with Snip &amp; Sketch.</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to use Snip and Sketch with a keyboard shortcut.</h2>

<p>Access to this function is also available via a keyboard shortcut. For this purpose press the following combination: Win+Shift+S. Pressing the combination opens the control bar directly. Once there, you can select the type of screenshot. Which is very useful, since you don&#8217;t have to open the app every time.</p>

<h2>How to take a full screenshot.</h2>

<p>We will use the classic Windows method. That is, you just have to press the prntscr key. The vast majority of keyboards have this key. Well, just press it to generate a screenshot that is saved to the clipboard. To use it, just enter paint and paste it using <em>Ctrl+V.</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/d.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-29276" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/d.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/d-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/d-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/d-696x464.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2>How to create a screenshot of an active window.</h2>

<p>Here is another useful keyboard shortcut. Indeed, if you press the combination Alt+PrntScr you will create a screenshot of the active screen. That is to say, if several windows are open, you will not capture all of them. Instead, the window or app that is in the foreground will be saved. All right, basically, these are the steps to take a screenshot in Windows 10. Goodbye!</p>
