• A PC running Windows Update April 2018 10 or later
• A phone with Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later.

How to configure Your Phone in Windows 10

In the first place, we are going to configure the application in the desktop system. With this in mind type your phone in the search bar.

Then, the application will start with the welcome screen. Please select the operating system of your mobile, in this case, Android.

Once you have chosen the operating system of the mobile phone, please press continue to follow the process.

Now connect your device to the pc by receiving a text message. The next window will be filled automatically the phone number present in the records of Microsoft. However, it is possible to change the telephone number. Verify that it is correct and press Send to send the confirmation message.

Configure Your Phone Companion on the mobile phone.

You will receive a text message with a link to the play store to download the Your Phone Companion-Link to Windows app. If you have problems to receive the text message, here I leave the link for you to download it directly. Once you have downloaded the application, you need to login to your Microsoft account.

Allow permissions

Next, we need to authorize the permissions on the android phone, to allow the proper functioning of the app. The first thing we need to do is to guarantee the app’s access to the mobile phone. Please press Allow to continue.

Next, the wizard will ask you to authorize the necessary permissions. Press Continue to move on.

The first permission concerns access to the photos and files on the device.

You then grant access to send and view text messages.

To be able to manage calls from the pc, please grant access to make and manage phone calls

Finally, to read the phone book allows access to contacts.

Once the permissions are granted, the wizard will ask if we want to allow the update of the app in the background.

To allow the app to update in the background, please ignore the battery optimization.

Everything is ready, and the configurations have been successfully established.

After all, the phone and the pc are linked successfully.

Using Your Phone in the PC

Once the mobile configuration is finished, open the application on the PC to start using it. Moreover, we will see the name of our mobile device and a menu with photos, messages, and notifications. In this case, we will see the recent photos.

To review and send text messages, please enter messages in the left column.

Now configure the notifications. With this in mind, enter notifications on the left side of the window. The app will then request additional permission to synchronize notifications. To facilitate the process, press open settings for me.

The previous action will send a request for permission to our mobile. Then, press allow to synchronizing the notifications between the pc and the mobile.

After completing the steps, we can see the notifications directly on the PC.

Conclusions

As shown above, we have correctly configured the application Your Phone in Windows 10. In the same way, we learned how to configure the mobile app to link the mobile phone to the PC. This feature allows you to control some phone functions directly from your PC. For example, view images, read and send messages and check notifications.
