<p>Hello! Are you interested in a graphics editor for your Windows 10 computer? We&#8217;ll show you the best free alternatives to <a href="https://www.osradar.com/microsoft-paint-to-be-targeted-at-microsoft-store/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Microsoft Paint.</a> If you are reading this, you are probably using a computer with Windows 10. Consequently, you have most likely also used Microsoft Paint, the free graphic editor that has been pre-installed with the operating system for 32 years. It is certainly not an advanced program. However, it fulfills its function adequately and users use it for different purposes. For example, to carry out basic image editing, make annotations or quick sketches on photos. They also use it for freehand drawing with the mouse and other tools, among other options. Let&#8217;s delve a little deeper into this aspect.</p>

<h2>Microsoft Paint is going to disappear. Is this true?</h2>

<p>At the end of July 2021 Microsoft made several announcements. Among them, it declared that Microsoft Paint is an obsolete software and that it will no longer be enhanced. Consequently, many users thought that the program was going to disappear.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="560" height="560" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paint.png" alt="" class="wp-image-35782" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paint.png 560w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paint-300x300.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paint-150x150.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></figure>

<p>However, this is not going to happen: the company has confirmed that MS Paint is not going to disappear in Windows 10. In fact, starting next fall it will no longer come preinstalled in the operating system as it has been doing until now. Users who wish to install the program will be able to do so for free through the Store.</p>

<p>There is a reason for this. It is actually due to the arrival of Microsoft Pain 3D. This is a new version of the mythical program, much more up-to-date, with an improved interface and new functions, among which the possibility of working with 3D space treatment stands out. Without further ado, let&#8217;s take a look at some free alternatives to Microsoft Paint.</p>

<h2>IrfanView</h2>

<p>Users give Microsoft Paint various uses, and among the most prominent are simple drawing or basic photo editing. If you are one of those who use the program as a photo editor, a free alternative to MS Paint that may interest you is IrfanView. This is a fairly basic and easy to use software that was released in 2003.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="816" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-35783" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa-300x239.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa-768x612.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa-696x555.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://www.irfanview.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IrfanView </a>provides you with many tools just like Paint. Therefore, it will not be difficult for you to make the leap to this new program. For example, you can perform simple editing tasks such as rotating, rotating or resizing photos. You can also remove the color to change it to grayscale or draw shapes in a couple of clicks, among many other options. In addition, it also has some useful additional tools, such as the editing preview. It also stands out for supporting more formats, including the possibility of opening animated GIFs.</p>

<h2>My Paint</h2>

<p>A good deal of used Paint to draw. So, this app is designed for them. <a href="http://mypaint.org/downloads/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">My Paint </a>is a free, cross-platform, open-source software that has been developed with illustrators in mind. One of the strengths of My Paint is that it is highly configurable. Thanks to this feature, the user has the possibility to customize and adjust the brushes and paintbrushes depending on his needs. In addition, it is compatible with Wacom graphic tablets, so you can use them to sketch, draw and paint your creations.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6-1024x640.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-35784" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6-1068x668.jpg 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2009-03-06-about_mypaint-0.6.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>However, drawing options are not everything in this tool. In fact, it also has different image editing options. Therefore, you will be able to make different adjustments to your photos whenever you need to.</p>

<h2>Pixlr Editor</h2>

<p>If you are seeking a free alternative to MS Paint, Pixlr Editor is a very fascinating option. It has the advantage of being a web application. Consequently, you will be able to use it in any browser regardless of your computer&#8217;s operating system and without having to install any program on the machine.</p>

<p><a href="https://pixlr.com/editor/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixlr Editor</a> is especially recommended for users who use Paint to edit their photos. It has more features and tools than the Microsoft program. Besides, its interface is quite reminiscent of Adobe Photoshop, so if you come from Paint and have never used a more advanced photo editor you will have to learn how to use it. Don&#8217;t worry, though because it won&#8217;t be difficult for you to get the hang of it.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="729" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online-1024x729.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-35785" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online-1024x729.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online-300x214.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online-768x547.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online-696x495.jpg 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online-1068x760.jpg 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Photo-Editor-_-Pixlr-X-free-image-editing-online.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This free online graphic editor provides you with basic settings for your photos that can be applied quickly and easily. Some of them are cropping, rotating or drawing with pencil and brush. In addition, you also have other more advanced tools, such as working with layers or applying different types of effects.</p>

<h2>Pinta</h2>

<p>Pinta is another of the best alternatives to Microsoft Paint. It is a graphic editor based on Paint.NET, another of the programs on this list. In fact, we will talk about it later. Like the software on which it is based, <a href="https://www.pinta-project.com/pintaproject/pinta/releases" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pinta </a>is open source and free. On the other hand, this application allows you to perform basic photo editing. It also provides you with quick tools to draw with a pencil or brush. You can also create geometric and customized shapes or enter text.</p>

<p>But it also has other very interesting functions. In fact, it has more advanced functions than Paint itself. As far as we can tell, it supports working with layers, has an unlimited editing history, includes quick and easy drawing tools, and adds 35 effects.</p>

<h2>Paint.NET</h2>

<p><a href="https://www.getpaint.net/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paint.NET </a>is a free alternative to MS Paint with a long history. Its origins date back to 2004 as a project of students at the University of Washington. It has always been a project conceived as an easy-to-use graphics editor for Windows-based computers.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="450" height="294" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-35813" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa2.jpg 450w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pa2-300x196.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></figure>

<p>Unlike Microsoft&#8217;s program, Paint.NET has a few more tools that make it a more advanced version. For example, it has support for working with multiple layers, the history of actions so that you can locate each of the changes you have made. It also has a wide range of tools for drawing and introducing effects. One thing to note, if you are used to Paint, then this is the perfect option for you. In fact, its graphical interface is very similar. Consequently, you will not have a hard time adapting to the program.</p>

<p>Okay, so we have seen some free alternatives to Microsoft Paint. It is always advisable to have different options for these utilities. See you later!</p>

<p>Hello! We continue to receive news about the next version of Windows 10. This time we will see the fate of a classic application. Indeed, we are talking about Microsoft Paint. This Windows veteran will finally be removed from Windows. However, this does not mean that it will disappear. Consequently, Microsoft Paint will definitely be targeted to the Microsoft Store. In addition, it will receive updates and improvements from the same application store. Therefore, Paint will be available for free from there. Likewise, Paint 3D will also be available for free from the store. This is in order to maintain uniformity of criteria.</p>

<h2>Paint for Windows will finally be headed to the Microsoft Store</h2>

<p>In 2017 it was rumored that Paint would finally be removed from <a href="https://www.osradar.com/category/windows/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows. </a>This would happen with the arrival of the Fall Creators Update. However, after complaints from the community, Microsoft backed off. Therefore, it announced that the app would be headed to the Windows Store. In order to receive updates and improvements from there. But we already know that this did not happen. In fact, Paint was offered as an optional feature. Finally, Microsoft Paint will be available for free from the <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/paint-3d/9nblggh5fv99?activetab=pivot:overviewtab" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows Store.</a> In addition, it will receive updates through the store in future versions of Windows 10. However, it is not yet known if it will continue to be developed, or if they will focus on Paint 3D.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="920" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa-1024x920.jpg" alt="Microsoft Paint" class="wp-image-29502" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa-1024x920.jpg 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa-300x269.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa-768x690.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa-696x625.jpg 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa-1068x959.jpg 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/pa.jpg 1140w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Microsoft Paint</figcaption></figure>

<p>Obviously, since it is a downloadable app from the store, it can be uninstalled. Just go to Windows Settings&gt;Apps&gt;Optional Features and from there uninstall it. Once uninstalled, it can still be restored. From the same Optional Features window. Or simply by downloading it from the store. Like Notepad, Paint will be moved to the Accessories folder of the Start menu. We think this is the logical evolution of this type of apps. Despite their age, they are still widely used. So now you know, Microsoft Paint will be targeted at the Microsoft Store. Bye!</p>

<p>Hello! Surely more than once you have needed to take a screenshot. Either for leisure or for work needs. Therefore, you have probably resorted to third-party <a href="https://www.osradar.com/best-free-screenshot-tools-for-windows/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">options</a>. However, Windows 10 has its own tool for taking screenshots. Besides being simple to use, it integrates seamlessly with the operating system. Stay with us to learn how to take a screenshot in Windows 10.</p>

<h2>Using Snip &amp; Sketch to take a screenshot in Windows 10.</h2>

<p>As mentioned, Windows has its own dedicated app for managing screenshots. We are talking about Snip &amp; Sketch. And as mentioned, it should be installed on your system. If for some reason you have uninstalled it, then you can download it for free from <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/recorte-y-boceto/9mz95kl8mr0l?ranMID=46133&amp;ranEAID=uX9G0lYjaAY&amp;ranSiteID=uX9G0lYjaAY-yJOF7a7pgafrUlbWgh2EPg&amp;epi=uX9G0lYjaAY-yJOF7a7pgafrUlbWgh2EPg&amp;irgwc=1&amp;OCID=AID2000142_aff_7791_1243925&amp;tduid=(ir__thfuzkglqgkfqkdckk0sohzlw32xpccam2agg29p00)(7791)(1243925)(uX9G0lYjaAY-yJOF7a7pgafrUlbWgh2EPg)()&amp;irclickid=_thfuzkglqgkfqkdckk0sohzlw32xpccam2agg29p00&amp;source=lp&amp;activetab=pivot:overviewtab" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here.</a> To start using it, just enter Snip in the search bar.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="787" height="679" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen.png" alt="Opening the application Snip &amp; Sketch" class="wp-image-29273" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen.png 787w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen-300x259.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen-768x663.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen-696x600.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px" /><figcaption>Opening the application Snip &amp; Sketch</figcaption></figure>

<p>After opening the app, just click on the <strong>New </strong>button. A toolbox with 5 controls will be displayed immediately. The first one is used to capture a frame of the screen, the second one to capture a freeform shape and the third one to capture the whole screen. Finally, the x is used to exit the app. Although pressing the Escape key we can also do it.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="883" height="387" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2.jpg" alt="Snip &amp; Sketch Controls" class="wp-image-29274" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2.jpg 883w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2-300x131.jpg 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2-768x337.jpg 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen2-696x305.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 883px) 100vw, 883px" /><figcaption>Snip &amp; Sketch Controls</figcaption></figure>

<p>It is also possible to make the screenshot immediately or after a few seconds. Once the area is selected, the image will be saved to the clipboard, ready to be pasted into another application. But it will also open an easy way to edit the image within the app. It allows you to make annotations or add colored lines.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="819" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-1024x819.png" alt="Editing the screenshot with Snip &amp; Sketch." class="wp-image-29275" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-1024x819.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-300x240.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-768x614.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-696x557.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3-1068x854.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/screen3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Editing the screenshot with Snip &amp; Sketch.</figcaption></figure>

<h2>How to use Snip and Sketch with a keyboard shortcut.</h2>

<p>Access to this function is also available via a keyboard shortcut. For this purpose press the following combination: Win+Shift+S. Pressing the combination opens the control bar directly. Once there, you can select the type of screenshot. Which is very useful, since you don&#8217;t have to open the app every time.</p>
