<p>Hello! There are many applications available for Windows. Therefore, there is always curiosity to try them out. On the other hand, you may be curious to know what these applications do. Likewise, many of these applications can be risky for the security of the system. Consequently, it is advisable to test them in a secure environment. For these cases, it is best to use a virtual machine or an isolated environment. These isolated environments are popularly known as sandboxes. And just today, we will test a sandbox tool. Read on to find out how to test applications securely in Windows.</p>

<h2>How to use Sandboxie Plus to test applications securely on Windows 10</h2>

<p>For years, Sandboxie was a very used tool. Indeed, Sandboxie allowed to avoid security holes with applications. Or simply to find out exactly how an application behaved. Time went by and Sandboxie was left behind by other applications. Even Windows 10 has its <a href="https://www.osradar.com/how-to-enable-and-use-sandbox-on-windows-10/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sandbox</a>. Well, this paid tool was acquired in 2017 by Sophos. Moreover, in 2020 they decided to open the source code of the tool. Therefore, it became an open-source program. Consequently, it is possible to download it free of charge. In addition, many programmers have joined the project. Therefore, there are constant updates for this useful tool.</p>

<p>On the other hand, the official <a href="https://www.sandboxie.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sandboxie </a>website redirects to a new <a href="https://sandboxie-plus.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">domain.</a> There we will see that the project is now open source. As a result, it is now available for free download.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="640" height="640" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand.png" alt="" class="wp-image-32676" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand.png 640w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand-300x300.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand-150x150.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<h2>Sandboxie Plus catches up</h2>

<p>As mentioned, it is now available on your website. However, the source code is also available to everyone. Just go to their repository on <a href="https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/sandboxie" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GitHub. </a>In addition, it has constant updates thanks to an enthusiastic community. On the other hand, it is available from Windows NT onwards. In addition, there are versions for 32 and 64 bits. On the official website of the project, it is possible to download both the <a href="https://sandboxie-plus.com/sandboxie/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">original </a>version and <a href="https://sandboxie-plus.com/downloads/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sandboxie plus.</a> Both versions are open source. They will be updated over time.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="552" height="569" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-32677" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand2.png 552w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand2-291x300.png 291w" sizes="(max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px" /></figure>

<p>The main changes between the two versions have to do with the interface. Indeed, the MFC interface has been replaced by another Qt interface. Consequently, it is easier to create an isolated client for each application you want to test. The tool is straightforward to use. Just click on Create new box. Then just add the address of the program you want to run. And you are ready to go!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="788" src="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3-1024x788.png" alt="Testing a program safely on Windows with Sandboxie plus" class="wp-image-32678" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3-1024x788.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3-768x591.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3-696x536.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3-1068x822.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/sand3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Testing a program safely on Windows with Sandboxie plus</figcaption></figure>

<p>Very well, in this way we have seen how to test applications securely in Windows. From now on, you have several advantages. Indeed, you can surf safely, open emails without exposing yourself to malicious links. In short, you can test programs safely. See you soon!</p>
