<p>Hello, there is no doubt that a good internet speed is indispensable for the system&#8217;s networking tasks. For example, access to email or access to a work or study platform. Consequently, a faulty internet would seriously affect the work. On the other hand, the causes of a slow internet are multiple. For example, errors in the provider, technical failures or inconveniences within the system. And it is on this last case that we will concentrate today. See how to speed up the Internet in <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10.</a></p>

<h2>How to accelerate the Internet from GPEDIT in Windows 10</h2>

<p>Maybe you didn&#8217;t know, but Windows reserves a portion of the bandwidth for itself. This percentage is 20%. Obviously, this value is intended for the operation of some programs. Also, for those users with high network speeds the impact is minimal. However, for those computers with limited speed, then the impact will be greater. On the other hand, it is not mandatory to maintain this 20% network percentage. So we will see a couple of methods to disable it. In the first place we will use the group policy editor. With this in mind please press the Win+R combination and run the following command:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">gpedit.msc</pre>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="399" height="206" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25440" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp.png 399w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp-300x155.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px" /></figure>

<p>After the editor is opened you must follow the following path: <strong>Computer Configuration&gt;Administrative Templates&gt;Network&gt;QoS Packet Scheduler</strong>. Once there, please select the <em>Limit reservable bandwidth</em> policy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2-1024x787.png" alt="Open the group policy editor." class="wp-image-25443" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp2.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Open the group policy editor.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Then double click on the policy. When the menu opens, please enable the policy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="686" height="636" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp3.png" alt="Please enable the policy" class="wp-image-25446" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp3.png 686w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp3-300x278.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px" /><figcaption>Please enable the policy</figcaption></figure>

<p>Then, you only have to edit the value that is 80 and set it to 0.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="694" height="636" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp4.png" alt="Sets the value to 0" class="wp-image-25455" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp4.png 694w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp4-300x275.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px" /><figcaption>Sets the value to 0</figcaption></figure>

<p>Please press OK and close the editor to continue.</p>

<h2>How to improve network speed using the registry editor.</h2>

<p>Before continuing it is advisable to make a <a href="https://www.osradar.com/make-a-backup-of-the-windows-registry/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">registry backup </a>or create a <a href="https://www.osradar.com/how-to-activate-and-use-system-restore-in-windows-10/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">restore point</a>. Then press the Win+R combination and execute the following command:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">regedit</pre>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="399" height="206" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp5.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25457" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp5.png 399w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp5-300x155.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px" /></figure>

<p>Once the registry editor is opened, please go to this path:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Psched
</pre>

<p id="block-7fe091ee-291e-4f24-843e-f255fcb14cc9">Once there, double-click on the DWORD value <em>NonBestEffortLimit</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6-1024x787.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25458" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp6.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The value must be at zero (0) to make use of 100% of the available bandwidth:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="331" height="199" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp7.png" alt="Sets the value to 0" class="wp-image-25459" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp7.png 331w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sp7-300x180.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 331px) 100vw, 331px" /><figcaption>Sets the value to 0</figcaption></figure>

<p>Press OK and close the registry editor.</p>

<p>In this way we have seen how to speed up the internet in Windows 10. Specifically we use two methods so that Windows 10 guarantees the user 100% of the network bandwidth. All right, we&#8217;ve come to the end for today. I hope to see you soon. See you later!</p>

<p>The speed of the internet is determined by a number of parameters and functions. Indeed, the network equipment and the contracted plan influence the final speed. Similarly, user activity conditions bandwidth performance. For example, downloads and open programs have an impact on network behavior. It is well known that optimal network speed is key to optimal workstation performance. For that reason, today we will see how to check internet speed in Windows 10 taskbar.</p>

<h2>How to see the internet speed from the task manager in Windows 10</h2>

<p>The first thing we will do is use our own Windows tool to monitor the speed of the Internet. To do this we will enter the Task Manager. With this in mind press the combination Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Once there click on the Performance tab. Then scroll down to the bottom and click on the device connected to the network. In this example, the Wi-Fi device.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net-1024x787.png" alt="Checking the internet speed from the task manager " class="wp-image-25316" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Checking the internet speed from the task manager</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Checking the internet speed from the task manager</h2>

<p>With the previous method we can check the internet speed from Windows. However, you always have to open the task manager. On the other hand, to have a persistent notification in the taskbar will be necessary to use a third party application. Don&#8217;t worry, it&#8217;s a free application called NetSpeedMonitor that can be downloaded from <a href="https://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Bandwidth-Tools/NetSpeedMonitor.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here.</a> When you start installing it, you will receive this warning screen about the incompatibility of the program. That is, Windows 10 is not supported by the app.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="494" height="391" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25318" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net2.png 494w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net2-300x237.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 494px) 100vw, 494px" /><figcaption>Program is not supported by Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<p>As it is not supported, the installation is aborted. But don&#8217;t worry, let&#8217;s see how to solve this problem. As it is not supported, the installation is aborted. But don&#8217;t worry, let&#8217;s see how to solve this problem. The first thing you have to do is right-click on the file and enter the properties.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="788" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3-1024x788.png" alt="Enter the file properties" class="wp-image-25321" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3-1024x788.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3-768x591.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3-696x536.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3-1068x822.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Enter the file properties</figcaption></figure>

<h2>Running the monitor</h2>

<p>Once the installation is finished, please press this address in the file browser: </p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted"><strong>C:\Program Files\NetSpeedMonitor</strong></pre>

<p>Once there, run <strong>nsmc.exe</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6-1024x787.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25328" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net6.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Now you must confirm that NetSpeedMonitor will be added to the taskbar.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="352" height="205" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net7.png" alt="Please add the app to the taskbar" class="wp-image-25329" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net7.png 352w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net7-300x175.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px" /><figcaption>Please add the app to the taskbar</figcaption></figure>

<p>Next, you must configure the program&#8217;s interface. That is, the language, the network device and the traffic logging. Please press Save to continue.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="485" height="446" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net8.png" alt="Configuring the app interface." class="wp-image-25330" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net8.png 485w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net8-300x276.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px" /><figcaption>Configuring the app interface.</figcaption></figure>

<p>You will immediately see in the status bar the speed of the internet. In addition, when you move the mouse pointer, the graphic information is displayed.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="592" height="278" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net9.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25332" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net9.png 592w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net9-300x141.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px" /></figure>

<p>By right-clicking you can enter the program <strong>configuration</strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="509" height="365" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net10.png" alt="Opening the NetSpeedMonitor settings" class="wp-image-25333" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net10.png 509w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/net10-300x215.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 509px) 100vw, 509px" /><figcaption>Opening the NetSpeedMonitor settings</figcaption></figure>

<p>From there you can configure many aspects. For example, the Bitrate, and the network interface entered</p>
