Indeed, our files and folders contain valuable information for us or our company. Additionally, it is likely that third parties may seek to access them for profit. So now let’s see how to password protect folders and files in Windows 10

Prerequisites

To protect the privacy of a folder, the following items are required:

  • A computer with Windows 10
  • The folder you want to protect
  • Specialized software called EncryptOnClick

How to use EncryptOnClick to password protect folders in Windows 10.

For this example, we chose EncryptOnClick as it is a free program that offers some interesting features:

  • Files can be compressed which reduces file size
  • We can encrypt individual files or encrypt entire folders
  • It is possible to assign a password to improve security
  • We can use a USB key.

Once the tool has been downloaded and installed, we will see the following screen. You can encrypt a folder or a file.
