Hello, I hope you are fine!. When we install Windows 10, by default, It comes with some features enabled and another disabled. As a matter of fact, a fresh installation of Windows, have optimal resources for everyday users. On the other hand, if you consider yourself an expert user or simply, one app asking for it, then you can enable/disable windows features as you will.

Enabling/disabling Windows 10 features

The first thing to do is type Control Panel in the bar search to go to Control Panel. Once there, select programs.

Control Panel. Programs

In the next windows, we have to select Turn Windows features on or off

Control Panel. Programs

Next, we will see a box with the list of Windows features with a checkbox next to it. If a feature has a checkmark next to it, it means that it is enabled. When it does not have a checkmark, it wants to say it is disabled. Finally, if you see a filled box it means that the function contains multiple sub-functions and only some of them have been enabled. We can expand the function to see which of its subfunctions are and are not enabled. This is the easy way of turn windows features on or of

Some of them and their use

Hyper V: This is a Microsoft virtualization tool. Includes the underlying platform and services and a graphical Hyper-V Administrator tool for creating, managing and using virtual machines

Internet Information Server Core hospedable Web: It allows hosting a web server using IIS within its own process. You only need to install this if you need to run an application that requires it

Windows Subsystem for Linux: In my opinion, this is one of the most interesting features. In order to run Ubuntu in Windows 10, we must enable this feature. In future tutorials, we will refer to this new functionality.

This is it for now! Please take a look at our tutorial about install Python 3 in Windows 10.
