<p>Hello, data protection requires our full attention. For this reason, it is necessary to take any kind of measure to increase security. Indeed, if you think that the security of the system is compromised through a USB port, then we will see how to protect you. It is well known that information can be exchanged between these devices and hard disks. So if the computer is in a public place, then a third party could extract information through these devices. Consequently, today we will see how to block the USB ports in <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windows 10.</a></p>

<h2>How to block the USB ports in Windows 10 using the Group Policy Editor</h2>

<p>The first thing you need to know is that this is a totally safe process. Furthermore, it is perfectly reversible. That is, at any time you can re-enable the USB ports. To open the directive editor, please press the Win+R combination and run the following command:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">gpedit.msc</pre>

<p>The Windows Policy Editor will be displayed immediately. Please select the following path:</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>System>Removable Storage Access</pre>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3-1024x787.png" alt="Windows Registry Editor. " class="wp-image-26201" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb3.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Windows Registry Editor.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Then double-click on <strong>Removable Storage Access</strong>. This action will display all available policies. This time you should select <strong>All</strong> <strong>Removable Storage classes: Deny all access.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="787" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4-1024x787.png" alt="Please select All Removable Storage classes: Deny all access." class="wp-image-26203" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4-1024x787.png 1024w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4-300x231.png 300w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4-768x590.png 768w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4-696x535.png 696w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4-1068x821.png 1068w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb4.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Please select All Removable Storage classes: Deny all access.</figcaption></figure>

<p>By double-clicking on the policy, the options will be displayed. As you can see, it is not configured by default. So to block access to USB devices you just have to enable the Policy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="686" height="636" src="//1081754738.rsc.cdn77.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb5.png" alt="Habilitating policy." class="wp-image-26205" srcset="https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb5.png 686w, https://www.osradar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/usb5-300x278.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px" /><figcaption>Habilitating policy.</figcaption></figure>

<p>At the end of the process, access to any storage device outside the computer will already be blocked. However, if you want to reverse the ban, the procedure is very simple. Just follow the steps above. The difference is that you must disable or not configure the policy.</p>
