Greetings dear friends! Advertising on the Internet is one of the most
most common ways to finance the content we consume daily. But in some cases, ads can cause annoyance, risk, and excessive resource consumption. If you want to prevent ads from invading your Android browsing experience. One option you can consider using is AdGuard DNS. A free service that blocks online advertising and tracking. In this post, we will you how to block advertising on Android using DNS. We will focus on the solution proposed by AdGuard: a DNS that will only take you a couple of minutes to set up on your Android device to get rid of all ads.

What is DNS and how does it work?

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is a system
that allows you to assign readable names to the IP addresses of devices connected to the Internet. In this way, users can access websites, online services, or network resources using easy-to-remember names, such as www.bing.com, rather than long and complex numbers, such as 204.79.197.200.

The way DNS works is based on a hierarchy of servers distributed around the world. They store and update information about names and associated IP addresses. When a user enters a domain name in his browser, the DNS system looks up the server that contains the information about that domain and returns the IP address. Thus, the browser can then establish a connection to the server hosting the requested website and display its content to the user.

How to use AdGuard’s DNS service on your Android phone

The AdGuard DNS is an alternative service to the one offered by our Internet provider or our router. In addition to performing the basic function of resolving domain names, it also filters the requests that are made to advertising and tracking servers. Preventing them from being loaded on our device. Thus, we can surf the Internet without seeing ads or being tracked by third parties.

Follow the steps below to use the AdGuard DNS service:

First step

Go to the Settings application on your Android phone.

How to block advertising on Android using DNS

Second step

Then go to Network & Internet>Advanced>Private DNS. You can get to this option easier and faster by typing “Private DNS” in the search box of the Settings app.

Private DNS

Third step

After that, once you have selected Private DNS, tap on “Private DNS provider hostname”.

Private DNS provider hostname

Fourth step

Now, you have to enter the AdGuard DNS address:

dns.adguard.com (to block advertising and tracking).

AdGuard DNS

Fifth step

Finally, click on Save and that’s it!

click on Save and that’s it!

With these steps, you will have already activated AdGuard DNS on your Android device. And you can enjoy cleaner and safer browsing. Of course, keep in mind that this method only works if you have Android 9 or higher, and that it may not be compatible with some public or private WiFi networks that require specific configuration.

Alternatively, you can activate this DNS from a more intuitive interface with the AdGuard app that you can download from Google Play.

Google Play | AdGuard for Android

Is it safe to use the AdGuard DNS service?

The dns.adguard.com is a public DNS service that protects against tracking, phishing, and malware. According to its website, dns.adguard.com uses encryption and does not keep any logs of user queries. However, as with any DNS service, there is a risk of bugs, unwanted failures, delays, or crashes. It is therefore recommended to
use dns.adguard.com with caution and verify its reliability and performance before relying on it for browsing. Thank you for reading us. Goodbye!

Greetings folks! Saving battery on Android is as simple as stopping using your phone or turning it off completely. That’s obvious, but there are ways to make better use of milli amps without having to do without basic use of your smartphone. There is a way to save a lot of battery by removing a couple of options that come by default in Developer Options. At the same time, you’ll save mobile data. The system offers several saving modes that can be activated if the percentage drops dangerously below 10%. For example; you can restrict the use of background apps and reduce the screen brightness. Both are visible options that help extend battery life, although other settings are not so obvious. In this post, we will show you how to save battery and mobile data with 2 hidden settings in Android 14.

Blocking the permanent mobile data connection

Wireless connections are an essential part of smartphones, especially after the progressive popularization of apps connected at all times. Android searches for a tower to connect to, tries to locate known WiFi networks and, on top of that, performs both tasks constantly and by default. Restricting this operation will have positive effects on battery saving without wasting more than a few minutes each day.

Increasing battery life is possible with two hidden settings on your Android that will help you.

In the Developer Options, several settings allow you to get some more autonomy. And two of these options are practical: “Mobile data always active” and “Wi-Fi scan throttling”. Both are intended to reduce the time away from an active Internet connection, but they can be switched off without reducing the usage experience too much. We find this highly recommended.

Here’s how to disable both network features from Developer Options:

First step

To begin with, it is essential to enable the “Developer options”. To do this, go to the settings of your Android. Then find the “About phone” section. Next, locate the “Build number” and press that option 7 times until you see a message saying “You are now a developer”. This activates the “Developer options”. There is a possibility that you will have to authorize unlocking your phone.

You are now a developer

Second step

Then go back to the main “Settings” menu and go to the “System” section to locate the new “Developer options”. For each brand of phone, this may vary: they are usually located under “System”.

Developer options

Third step

After that, swipe down in the Developer Options menu until you find the “Wi-Fi scan throttling” setting and enable it.

Wi-Fi scan throttling

Fourth step

Finally, just look for the “Mobile data always active” option and turn it off. And that’s it!

How to save battery and mobile data with 2 hidden settings in Android 14

Conclusion

By configuring these two functions of WiFi and mobile connectivity in the background your Android device will stop searching for networks constantly and, when connected to a known WiFi, it will disable mobile data so as not to waste resources when they are unnecessary (you can also completely disconnect the WiFi and activate it only when you are under your known networks). In return, it may take a few seconds longer than usual for your phone to connect to the Internet when you leave the WiFi coverage, nothing that would be problematic. Remember to try these options and let us know your experience in the comments. Thanks for reading us. Goodbye!

Hello friends! Surely you’ve ever wanted to block internet access to an app or game on your Android device. Maybe you want to save mobile data and prevent an app from sending you annoying notifications. Block ads, or just protect your privacy. Whatever the reason. In this article we will explain how to block internet access from any app on Android. You can do it quickly and easily. There are several ways to block internet access from an app or game on Android. But the easiest and most effective. It is to use a third-party application that is responsible for managing network permissions on your device.

How to block internet access for any application on Android with NetGuard

There are many options available in Google Play. But in this case, we recommend NetGuard. It is a free, secure, reliable, and ad-free application. It allows you to control the Internet traffic of any app with a simple tap.

First step

To use NetGuard, you must first download and install it on your Android device by following the link below:

Google Play | NetGuard – No-Root Firewall

Second step

Then open NetGuard on your Android and click “I agree” on the first prompt you see.

NetGuard

Third step

Activate the application by tapping the button in the upper left corner.

Activate the application

Fourth step

Next, tap “ok” as many times as necessary to allow “NetGuard” to create a VPN (Virtual Private Network) with which it can filter Internet traffic from applications.

Fifth step

You will also need to disable battery optimization for NetGuard (so it can run more consistently). You can do this by following the pop-up window that the application shows you or by going to Settings>Applications>NetGuard>Battery>No restrictions.

NetGuard

No restrictions

Sixth step

Finally, go back to NetGuard and disable Internet access for the applications you want by tapping the WiFi and Mobile Data icons. If the icon is green, Internet access is enabled, and if it is red, the application cannot use the Internet.

NetGuard

Remember that you can change the permissions in NetGuard at any time. You can also configure other advanced options from the application’s settings menu. For example, you can create whitelists or blacklists of applications, set rules by time or network, view the data usage of each application, and much more.

Is it safe to use NetGuard to block Internet access for an app or game on Android?

By blocking Internet access to applications through a VPN. You might think that this method can be dangerous for your privacy. But don’t worry, NetGuard VPN does not connect to any external server or collect your data. It only serves to block Internet access to the applications you choose. It is also important to note that NetGuard is an open-source application (you can view its code on GitHub). This is a guarantee that the application is transparent, and secure and does not hide anything strange in its operation. Thank you for reading. Bye bye!

When it comes to diagnosing PC hardware problems, there are several excellent free tools that you can use to repair a PC. You should avoid hiring someone to fix your PC issues unless all else fails. In fact, you can fix them yourself without paying for this service. Today, we recommend some of the best diagnostic software.

Piriform Speccy

Speccy cannot be missing in the list of programs for hardware diagnostics. It is a utility that is available for free or there is also a paid version. In addition, its function is to show the user specifications of the hardware and software of the computer. This can help you to know better what you have installed and the possible problems that may occur. Including, from locating an inadequate driver, to detecting memory issues if not all the installed memory is detected, etc. It is the diagnostic software par excellence.

Among the information provided by this program is:

Microprocessor information.

Hard disk information.

RAM memory details.

Operating system information.

About the graphics card.

About the sound card.

The motherboard model installed and its characteristics.

Network card.

AIDA64 / Hardinfo

An alternative to the previous one, and more complete, is the ADIA64 software for Windows, or HardInfo for Linux. Both are very similar and provide very detailed information about all your equipment. By providing a hardware report, it is an excellent diagnostic software. For example, among the details it provides you can see:

General details about the equipment.

Detailed information about the motherboard.

Temperature sensor readings and fan RPM.

Operating system information.

And of the APIs such as the graphics API.

Video details such as monitor, GPU, etc.

Multimedia, such as sound card, codecs, sound API, etc.

RAM information.

Information about storage media and other media that may be installed in the computer (optical, floppy, …).

Details about the network card or adapter.

CPU performance comparisons.

SysInspector

ESET has created a program called SysInspector. It is a very easy-to-use diagnostic tool that will help you solve numerous system problems. It can be obtained both integrated in the antivirus suite, and independently.

CPU-Z / CPU-X

This other program provides a lot of details about the CPU. Not only information about it, but also about the memory, tests, and something important, the voltages and frequencies at which it is working. Something that can be essential to detect problems, especially if you have done overclocking.

As CPU-Z is only available for Windows, CPU-X is the alternative for GNU/Linux which is exactly the same.

Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool

Intel Diagnostic Tool is compatible with Windows, and allows you to verify the functionality of the Intel processor. In this sense, it provides information such as frequency, voltages, and other characteristics. It also performs stress tests on the processor to see if the instability or failures you are suffering are due to it or to another component.

This free app is used to track and export the results of a network scan in order to detect network problems. For example, IP hops, latencies or ping, used servers, ports, etc.

CrystalDiskInfo

Thanks to the S.M.A.R.T. technology of HDD and SSD hard drives, it is possible to detect health problems of a hard drive before it fails irreversibly. This could help detect issues and prevent data loss. Well, what this program for Windows does is to obtain information thanks to this technology. As a result, it provides information about the health status. For example, you can check the operating temperature, firmware, and disk information. In addition to an analysis with the state of health that will indicate if it is going to fail soon or not.

Hello! If you want to manage networks and connect to Wi-Fi on Windows, let’s explain everything you need to know. We will try to cover different topics. In effect, we will see how to configure the system to stop searching for networks. Although, we will also learn how to share the signal with other devices and that they can connect to the Internet without problems. The idea is to show you step by step all you have to do. Please remember that you can use the system configuration itself, without having to install anything additional. However, you can also use free apps to help you better manage your wireless networks. Finally, the goal is to get good coverage and make everything work properly. That is, without appearing the feared cuts when browsing or using some application. Read on to learn how to manage Wi-Fi networks in Windows 11.

How to configure Windows not to scan for Wi-Fi

By default, Windows is configured to constantly scan for Wi-Fi connections. This is certainly handy. However, you may wish to do without it, in order to extend battery life. Or to save resources. Well, let’s see how to do it. It is a very simple procedure and for which we will not have to install any additional plugins. We are only going to use the operating system’s own configuration.

The first thing we are going to do is to go to Start, look for services and access. There we will see a large list of operating system services that we will be able to modify. All of them will be configured as they come when installing the OS, unless we have made some change. We can also access simply with the key combination Windows+R and execute services.msc.

When you are at this point, look for the WLAN Auto Config service. We have to click with the right button of the mouse and click on Stop. Then go to Properties and under Startup type, which will be marked as Automatic, change it to Manual.

Once this is done, we simply have to click on Apply and we will accept the changes. From this moment on, Windows will not be searching for Wi-Fi networks automatically. We must also restart the computer for the changes to take effect correctly.

You should know that this change is totally reversible. Consequently, it is possible to return to the previous scenario. That is, Windows will automatically search for networks again. Consequently, we only have to follow the steps that we have explained again. Only this time, we switch back to Automatic. Press OK, restart the computer, and that’s it.

How to prevent Windows from connecting to a specific network

After having explained what we can do to prevent Windows from automatically searching for Wi-Fi networks, we are now going to focus on preventing it from connecting to a specific network. It is possible that we do not want it to automatically access a Wi-Fi to which we have previously connected. Even to an access point we have at home. This can also be done easily. It can be interesting for the same reasons as mentioned above. It is especially useful for not connecting only to a certain network that has a weak signal.

Windows configuration

If at some point we connect to a network, and now we do not want it to connect automatically, we can avoid it. To do this, we have to follow these steps. First, go to Start and then go to Windows Settings. Then we go to Network and Internet, click on Wi-Fi and access Manage known networks.

A list of all the wireless networks to which we have ever connected will be displayed. It does not matter if they are open networks or have passwords. What Windows does is to store this information to connect quickly as soon as it detects it. It is interesting to save time, but sometimes we may not want this.

What we need to do is to find the network we do not want to connect to. It can be a Wi-Fi repeater, for example. We click on the name, and we will see a small box where we will see the Forget button.

By simply performing this step, Windows will automatically stop connecting to that wireless network. It will delete all stored information. In addition, this also includes the password. If in the future, we want to connect again, we will have to click on Connect and manually enter the password.

Therefore, following these steps, we can also prevent Windows from automatically connecting to a specific network. It is an alternative if we do not want that it stops looking for networks constantly, but we are not interested that it can connect to a certain network. It is a simple and fast process. In addition, we can easily revert reverse it easily if in a given moment we are interested that it returns to connect.

How to do it from the command prompt.

We can also do this using commands. Moreover, in this case, it would be valid both for networks we are connected to now and for those we are not connected to. In short, it is valid for any network that we have saved. An important issue is that to execute these commands, it is mandatory to do it as an administrator. To do so, type and select Run as administrator. Also, by clicking on Command Prompt with the right mouse button, this option appears.

Now we are going to use a command to view the profiles of the saved Wi-Fi networks. With this in mind, we will use netsh with the following parameters:

netsh wlan show profiles

In case we want to prevent Windows from automatically connecting to a Wi-Fi network, we will have to use this other command:

netsh wlan set profileparameter name=network name connectionmode=manual

Here, what we have to do is to replace Network Name with the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to modify. This would be the command in which our Wi-Fi network profile has been executed correctly, so that from now on the connection is made manually.

Instead, this would be the command syntax if we want that Wi-Fi network to start automatically:

netsh wlan set profileparameter name=network name connectionmode=auto

This is the example of the execution to have an automatic connection:

In the hypothetical case that we do not know if we have the Wi-Fi connection on automatic or manual, we would use this other command:

netsh wlan show profile network name

These are the results we would get if that Wi-Fi network has automatic connection:

Very well, this way we begin to see how to manage the Wi-Fi connections with Windows 11. Bye!

Hello friends! When you decide to take the decision and buy a new terminal the most frustrating thing is to have to lose many things, such as some images, videos, and even certain applications. In this last point, you have the option to move all the apps available on your device from the previous phone to the new one. It is a task that if you spend a few minutes you will be able to carry out for your benefit, which is none other than to have extra features to those of a conventional phone. Despite being able to download one by one, this is too tedious, as it requires downloading one by one from the Play Store, even having to download an external app. In this post, we will explain how to move applications from one phone to another on Android. Sometimes requiring a connection, including Bluetooth for example.

Choose which applications to transfer

The first step before passing one or another application is to sort each of them, it is also important that you know if you use it often. We will always have some above others, try to prioritize and put each of the swipes at a point where you can get to it quickly, for example on the first screen.
Also remember that if you pass an app to another phone it will not always carry all the information, starting from zero, so it is convenient to configure and pass the information. Always try to pass a test that works correctly and does not contain any errors, which would make you have to uninstall and reinstall from the store.
There is an official Google way to move applications from one mobile to another. Certain apps from Google Play are useful to transfer one or more utilities quickly and without having to go one by one to the new terminal.

move applications from one phone to another in Android

Use the official Google method

It is probably the most used by anyone. When you want to move an application from one phone to another use this method known as conventional. The important thing is to have autonomy in both. If this does not happen any of them should go through the charging station. If you want everything to be a success. The previous steps are a few, try not to skip any. If what you want is to get the app to work on your new device once it has been passed. Android smartphones usually communicate well and if you pass a utility it is usually done fully, the files are complete, and it will pass a complete folder.

First use the previous steps, which are:

The first point is to have both devices fully charged.

The main phone must be unlocked.

Once again on the previous device, log in to your Google account. Then create a backup with Drive and verify that you are connected to a WiFi connection.

Use the official Google method

To move the entire app from one phone to the other, do the following:

Turn on the new phone and press “Start”

Then connect to the WiFi network and choose to copy the applications and data from the previous phone.

One option is to be able to pass the data with cables, it is an option other than Bluetooth/WiFi.

Now click on “Backup” on the new one and click on “Confirm”, just choose the apps and nothing else.

Follow the steps and confirm to have all the apps on that new smartphone you have in your possession.

This way you will be able to transfer the apps to your new device without any inconvenience. Thank you for reading us Bye!

Hello friends! In this post, you will learn how to use your Android phone as a portable router to connect any device to the Internet wherever you are. Thanks to your phone and your mobile data connection, you can share the Internet with all kinds of devices, from a tablet to a computer or a Smart TV, and today we are going to show you all the ways to do it. This allows you to work or access your favorite services from anywhere, regardless of whether you have a router nearby or not. You simply need to have coverage and your data rate connection. There are different methods for your phone to connect to your other devices, and each one can be more useful depending on the device you want to connect to, so it is worth knowing them all.

Create a portable access point

This is one of the most commonly used options when it comes to sharing your Internet connection, and it is also the most versatile because it allows any other device with Wi-Fi connectivity to connect, from a TV to a tablet or an eBook.

Open Settings

Click on Portable Hotspot

Enable Portable Hotspot

Tap on Configure to modify data such as the password

Create a portable access point

Your phone will work as a router, so it will be valid with any other Wi-Fi device, and also in current phones gives the option to create a 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz network, as well as being able to change the password or even delete it.

Of course, you should keep in mind that this particular method consumes a little more battery than the rest, so the best option will be to have your phone charged, or at least the charger is not far away. It is the most versatile, but that does not mean that it is the one you have to always use, as there are many occasions when other methods may be more convenient.

By a USB cable

If you want to share your Internet connection with a computer, this is the easiest and most recommended method, since you will only have to connect the charging cable from your phone to the computer and activate the option to start working, without the need to put the password as in the access point. Just follow these steps:

Open Settings

Click on Portable Hotspot

Connect your phone to the computer via USB

Enable USB tethering

Enable USB tethering

If you are working away from home with your laptop or you have simply run out of Internet, it is a very simple and safe option, and your phone will be charged while sharing the Internet thanks to the energy that will come from your computer, so in terms of energy, it is all advantages.

Via Bluetooth

Current Android smartphones also offer the option to share your Internet connection via Bluetooth, which is uncommon today, but it is an interesting possibility, and in which you will not have to do anything more than activating the option. Follow these steps:

Open Settings

Go to Portable Hotspot

Enable Bluetooth tethering

Enable Bluetooth tethering

And will be the person who wants to connect who will have to open the Bluetooth on your device and connect to the phone from which you are sharing the connection. This is a useful method for devices that do not have WiFi, but Bluetooth. Thanks for reading. Bye bye!

Hello! Every time we connect to a Wi-Fi network, Windows creates a log with all the passwords of the access points (SSID). This way, you can connect automatically when available. Also, without having to enter the password again. The operation of Windows in this sense is the same as in any other operating system. That is, both desktop (Linux and macOS) and mobile devices. But what happens to Wi-Fi passwords if we change computers or format the computer? Prior to this, we must make a backup of all the access points to which we have previously connected. This way, we avoid having to enter them manually every time we want to connect. Here, we will see how to back up Wi-Fi passwords on Windows.

Windows stores passwords in our account

There is really no need to save Wi-Fi passwords when you plan to format your hard disk or change your computer. With the release of Windows 8, Microsoft began to implement the integration of the operating system with the user account. In this way, Microsoft wanted to make it easier to interact with devices in the future. The main advantage of this change is with respect to the Microsoft Store. Thanks to this integration, we could access a list of applications that we had previously downloaded. In fact, these had already been associated with our account.

Subsequently, Microsoft also started to associate the hardware of the device with the license. In this way, we could only use the corresponding license on a single device. That is, we could not use it on different computers together. As Windows evolves, Microsoft has been introducing a series of hidden improvements. One of them is being able to store in the Microsoft cloud a copy of all the Wi-Fi networks we have connected to in the past. It is enough to associate a Windows installation to our account. No matter if it is a new computer or a formatted one. As a result, the list with all the access points and the passwords for each of them will be automatically downloaded. Therefore, it will not be necessary to enter the access data again.

Is there anything else we should do?

Remember that this process is done automatically when you enter the data. So there is really no need for any further action on our part. In the same way, the new access points to which we connect are automatically synchronized. Therefore, if we delete any of them, they will also be automatically deleted from the Microsoft servers. This also happens on all computers that are managed by the same Microsoft account, even if they are different computers.

How to know the password of a Wi-Fi network

Windows provides a couple of methods to learn stored Wi-Fi passwords.

From settings

From Windows Settings, we will only be able to know the password of the currently connected network. In fact, there is no option to know the password of all the access points we have stored on our computer. To obtain the password of the Wi-Fi network in which we are, we access the Windows configuration options by pressing Win+I.

Once there, we entered Network & Internet. Within this section, click on Wi-Fi. Then, in the right column, click on Network and Sharing Center.

Next, the Windows Control Panel will be displayed. Specifically, in the section corresponding to the networks. In this section, click on the name of the connection to access its properties.

Then, a new window will be displayed. There we will see the operation, connection type, speed, and duration of the Wi-Fi connection in which we are. In this window, click on Wireless Properties.

Next, we click on the Security tab and check the box Show characters. At that moment, Windows will ask us for the security method that we use in our account to be able to show it. If we do not know it, Windows will not show us the password of the network to which the equipment is connected.

A network, with or without internet access, is the only method of sharing files and resources between devices. Any person who has access to the network has access to all that content. For this simple reason, Windows will ask for the PIN of the user account in which we are. Otherwise, we will be able to use the command prompt or the PowerShell, as we will see next.

Using Command Prompt

If you do not have access credentials to the computer, then you can resort to the command prompt. In addition, this option allows us to know the password of all the access points registered on the computer. Remember that this possibility is not available from the Windows graphical interface. The first thing you have to do is to go to the command prompt. With this in mind, enter the term CMD in the Windows search button. Please remember to open it with administrator privileges. Next, we use the following command to list all the Wi-Fi networks to which we have connected with the computer and with that user account.

netsh wlan show profile

Next, we must select the name of the Wi-Fi connection for which we want to know the password. Then please use the following command. Please replace wifiname with the name of the access point. The Wi-Fi network code will be displayed under Key content.

Netsh wlan show profile name="wifiname" key=clear

We must carry out this process individually. In other words, we cannot create a list of all the passwords of the access points to which we have connected. In fact, we will have to do it one by one. Very well, in this way we have seen how to back up Wi-Fi passwords on Windows. Bye!
